Junior Buyer - Intern

**Compensation**: $35,000 - $38,000 per year

Science North is seeking to fill a one-year internship opportunity that will start as soon as possible. All applicants must meet the following internship program eligibility requirements:

- must be a new entrant into the workforce, be transitioning to a new career, or be unemployed or underemployed and entering a new field.
- must have not previously participated in an NOHFC funded internship
- must be 18 years of age or older
- must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
- Once hired, must reside in Sudbury

**Position Highlights**:
Reporting to the Procurement Officer, you will
- Purchase goods, materials, and services in line with specified cost, quality, and delivery targets
- Support departments across the organization through procurement, including communicating and resolving supply chain issues that may impact Science North business units
- Act as a liaison between vendors and business units, providing purchasing support for new projects and activities
- Support cost analysis and cost reduction activities
- Negotiate low level contracts with vendors and suppliers to improve prices and business terms
- Prepare order requisitions, purchase orders, and procurement reports
- Build and maintain supplier relationships, including communicating with vendors to resolve price, quality, quantity, delivery, or invoice issues.
- Ensure compliance to Science Norths guidelines, purchasing policies and procedures

**Qualifications**:

- Post-secondary degree/diploma in a business administration, economics, finance or commerce
- Demonstrated experience in software and data management
- Fluency in English required. Fluency in French will be considered an asset

- Exceptional written/verbal communication skills with high attention to detail and superior spreadsheet and data management skills
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work inclusively and collaboratively with a wide variety of individuals
- Ability to multi-task and adjust quickly to changing priorities or organizational needs
