**Job Summary**:
The Regulatory Affairs Specialist position assures TerraLink Horticulture remains compliant with Federal, Provincial, and Municipal Acts, and Industry and Regulations, maintains and enforces the Quality Control program, is accountable to the management of Terralink, and acts on the company’s behalf regarding regulations and compliance issues while maintaining strict confidentiality. Reporting to the Procurement Managers, the positions is part of a well established team and key for the continuation of TerraLink's great reputation in all spheres it interacts.
**Some of the specific accountabilities**:
- **Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) and Washington State Department of Agriculture (WSDA)**_
- Ensure all registrations, re-registrations and registration reviews are performed in a timely manner and submitted before the required due date.
- Maintain a friendly and professional rapport with Inspectors of the CFIA, both regionally and nationally, as well as authorities in WSDA regarding our fertilizer registrations.
- Liaise with CFIA Inspectors and Evaluators regarding all inquiries and questions related to the regulations and Terralink operations when deemed necessary
- **3rd Party Organic Certifying Bodies (EcoCert, WSDA Organic, OMRI, National Organics Program)**:_
- Ensure all registrations, re-registrations and registration reviews are performed in a timely manner and submitted before the required due date.
- Maintain a friendly and professional rapport with Organic Certifying Bodies
- Registering products with EcoCert and WSDA Organic when directed from Management
- Communicating with Organic Certifying Bodies, on behalf of the farmer/customer to register products
- **Explosives Regulatory Division (ERD) of Natural Resources CanadaRestricted Components**:_
- Maintain a friendly and professional rapport with Inspectors of the Explosives Regulatory Division (ERD) of Natural Resources Canada
- Liaise with ERD Inspectors and personnel regarding all inquiries and questions related to the regulations
- Escort Inspectors during visits and audits and provide any information requested regarding Terralink’s compliance and address any questions or concerns they may have on behalf of Terralink
- **Ministry of Environment (MOE)**:_
- Ensure our Pesticide Vendor’s certificate is accurately completed and submitted with payment on time each year, for all Terralink divisions and locations.
- Liaise with MOE Inspectors and personnel regarding all inquiries and questions related to the regulations
- Provide assistance and guidance to TL Management in maintaining regulatory compliance
- **Quality Control and Assurance (QC/QA)**_
- Initiate and maintain QC records both a hard copy and in software system
- Track, store, and maintain quality control samples
- Conducting QC tests for physical properties of fertilizers and seed
- Coordinate with receiving and production staff to obtain QC samples
- Gathering, preparing, and submitting samples to the appropriate labs
- Tracking, recording and reporting the lab results to the all departments involved
- Creating Certificates of Analysis (CoA)

- USA regulations
**Requirements**:
- Must have two years post-secondary education in agronomy that includes chemistry and biology or the equivalent or a combination of direct experience in the field and relatable education
- Must be detailed oriented & self-motivated
- Must have strong time management and organizational skills to handle large volumes of work
- Must have excellent communication skills both written and verbal
- Must be able to comprehend & interpret government documents and legislation
- Must be proficient MS
