The Recreation Coordinator will create and promote physical well-being and a healthy lifestyle for children up to 12 years of age through creative sports programming and will work in collaboration with the Program Director and Educator Team. Prospering Families Child Care will align support with extended hours of childcare and operate out of the Castle Downs Family YMCA.Join our exciting new initiative at YMCA Castle Downs and become apart of our dynamic team

**Hours of Work**:
**2-5 pm Thursday (mandatory)**

**3-6pm Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday**

- Consistently represent YMCA’s values and mission, comply with all YMCA Policies, procedures and Provincial Licensing and Health regulations
- Planning and organizing programming based on Physical Literacy outcomes, curriculum requirements through assessment of children’s interests and needs
- Creating and developing daily programming that promotes healthy living (sports, nutrition etc. ), skill acquisition, cooperation and active participation to groups of children ages 19 months-12 years
- Delivering programs to children & families
- Offer workshops, family nights and home-based activities to families to increase their knowledge and understanding of the important role physical literacy plays in a healthy childhood development.
- Play an active role in personal development, training and succession planning
- Engage with community stakeholders
- Complete administration duties as required

**Qualifications/Experience**
- Experience working with children
- Standard or Child Care First Aid & CPR - C
- Experience with running recreation programs is an asset
- Able to obtain a Police Information Check with Vulnerable sector check
- Knowledge of YMCA Curriculums is an asset
- Ability to complete required training
