Manager, Trade Operations, Loans and Hedge Funds

SCOPE OF POSITION
The Investment Operations team within Capital Markets Finance (CMF) is responsible for supporting the investment groups in transacting in multiple products across various global markets and jurisdictions. The team operates and manages investment middle office functions critical to the life cycle events of investment products resident in the portfolio.

The Manager plays a key role in overseeing the investment administration and team members as it relates to global private credit, levered loan and externally managed strategies. Operating workflows relating to those strategies include private trade settlements, loan administration, coordinating fundings and distributions, covenant/compliance monitoring, fund accounting, pricing, as well as performing fee calculations and verifications for external funds. The products operated in this role include traded and private loans, leverage facilities, fund investments, co-investments, royalty income schemes and separately managed accounts (“SMAs”) within the Capital Markets portfolios.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The Manager is responsible for a combination of the below activities:
Responsible for maintaining the sub ledger for private market and externally managed transactions to ensure capital calls, settlement, income entitlements, forecasting, corporate actions, reconciliations, pricing, asset reporting, review of invoices and expenses, and reconciliations are completed timely and accurately.
Ensure operational activities for assigned mandate are operating accurately and effectively. Review teamwork and validations to ensure alignment with internal procedures and policies.
Responsible for maintaining controls between OMERS, custodian, loan and fund administrator records and is a key resource for managing relationships with service providers. Manage external party on-boarding requirements and oversee all the ongoing service provider maintenance requirements for the products invested.
Responsible for traded and private loan operations. Ensure accurate and timely confirmation and settlement of traded and private credit investment transactions with loan agents and other counterparties, initial fundings and subsequent drawdowns are paid timely, and incomes and prepayments are accurately captured.
Monitor financial covenants of private loan positions and external loan facilities. Report on compliance in accordance with the terms of credit and investment management agreements. Coordinate compliance calculations and arrange for obligations with loan administrators and investments team for external loan facilities.
Ensure quarterly valuations of all underlying assets are updated accurately and timely.
Calculate monthly/quarterly fees and accrual interest on loan facilities, as well as management, operating and performance fee accrual for external fund investments, and ensure timely and accurate booking in the sub ledger.
Review offering documents and side letter agreements for funds/SMAs and credit or loan agreements in connection with related accounting entries, asset classification, fee validation and operational due diligence reviews.
Review management reports relating to externally managed and private investments including asset, income, cash flows, transaction costs, credit ratings, compliance monitoring, fees and liquidity.
Coordinate with Capital Markets investment teams on upcoming private loan and external fund transactions. Participate in periodic calls with Capital Markets investment team Singapore which occur after regular business hours. Maintain schedules of forecasted transactions.
Maintain up to date knowledge of OMERS policies regarding sub delegation of investment authority, signing authorities, public and private valuations, investment guidelines and third-party agreements.
Enhance and update existing desk documentation of policy and procedures as it relates to areas of responsibilities. Develop new workflow documentation as required.
Identify, recommend and assist in implementing processes and controls, and drive productivity improvements and automation of manual processes. Contribute an environment which supports continuous improvement.
Provide leadership and on-going direction to staff to optimize team’s performance, conduct, teamwork and morale. Ensure departmental objectives are clearly understood and activities within the team are aligned. Provide supervision and technical guidance to the team members. Participate in recruiting and responsible for staff training and development and assessing performance effectiveness.
Foster effective working relationships within CMF and across the OMERS enterprise, loan agents, facility providers, external managers, counterparties, custodian, fund administrators and auditors.
Provide inputs and information associated for audits and ensures completeness and accuracy.
Provide backup support for broader Investment Operations team and other management staff as assigned.
