**Position Overview**:
The Finance Manager will play a pivotal role in overseeing the financial reporting, financial planning, strategy and business support functions within Islamic Relief Canada. This position requires a strategic and analytical mindset, strong leadership abilities, and the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.

**Essential Duties and Responsibilities**:
**_ Financial Reporting (40%):_**
- Lead the financial reporting process, ensuring accurate and timely preparation of financial statements, management reports, and other financial analyses
- Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards (ASNPO), regulatory requirements with GAAP and CRA, and internal policies and procedures
- Develop and implement internal controls to safeguard financial assets, monitor financial performance, and mitigate risk
- Conduct financial analysis and provide insights to the senior leadership team, board members, and other stakeholders as relevant

Financial Planning and Business Support (30%):_**
- Lead the annual budgeting process, working closely with department directors to develop comprehensive and realistic budgets aligned with organizational objectives
- Provide financial analysis and support to guide decision-making and resource allocation, including budget-to-actual monitoring
- Monitor the organization’s liquidity through cash flow projections and management
- Manage relationships with key stakeholders including external auditors, CRA (as needed), vendors, and others
- Conduct business analysis to provide financial insights to support strategic decision making, identify trends, and provide recommendations
- Identify process improvement areas through analysis and assist in the development and implementation of policies at the organization

Team Management and Cross-Team Collaboration (30%):_**
- Manage and mentor a team of 6, including overseas contractors, ensuring their professional development and growth
- Foster a collaborative and high-performance culture within the Finance team, promoting effective communication, teamwork, and accountability
- Collaborate with other departments, including fundraising, programs, and operations, to develop financial strategies, align on goals, and support organizational objectives
- Participate in cross-functional initiatives, providing financial insights, and contributing to strategic planning and decision-making

**Qualifications and Skills**:

- Bachelor's degree in finance, business, accounting, or a related field
- Professional accounting designation (CPA) is highly preferred
- 5-6 years of experience with external reporting, external audits, or other related experience, with managerial experience and non-profit experience an asset
- Experience in financial analysis, general ledger accounting, month-end close and auditing
- Knowledgeable about the Canada Revenue Agency’s compliance guidelines, rules and regulations affecting registered charities in Canada
- Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to interpret financial data and provide strategic insights and recommendations
- Strong leadership and team management abilities, including building and developing high-performing teams
- Effective communication and presentation skills, with the ability to clearly organize financial information into meaningful content for end user
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate and work effectively with cross-functional teams
- Experience in the nonprofit sector or international development is an asset
- Must be eligible to work in Canada
