NAM is a licensed treatment provider operating within a Therapeutic Community model. We deliver programs such as our Personalized Recovery Program (PRP), peer-led support groups, and educational workshops addressing addiction and mental health. Our team supports individuals living in community housing, helping them build sustainable, holistic wellness rooted in compassion, accountability, and growth.
**Position Overview**
The **Recovery Support Worker** plays a vital, front-line role in assisting clients through their journey of recovery from addiction and mental health challenges. You will provide both individual and group support, facilitate recovery-focused activities, and contribute to a safe, trauma-informed, and empowering environment.
Applicants must demonstrate a **strong recovery-oriented mindset**, reliability, and genuine passion for supporting others on their healing journey.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Provide one-on-one and group support to individuals facing addiction, mental health, or housing challenges.
- Conduct client intakes, screenings, and follow-ups.
- Facilitate peer-based recovery groups, workshops, and recreational outings.
- Model and encourage healthy recovery tools such as mindfulness, meditation, and breathwork.
- Support clients with daily living skills including meal planning, cleaning, and time management.
- Offer transportation support using personal or agency vehicles — **must be comfortable driving clients safely throughout Calgary**.
- Maintain accurate documentation in Med Access, FYIdb, and My Recovery systems.
- Participate in staff meetings, supervision, and professional development sessions.
- Lead by example through compassion, consistency, and a recovery-focused attitude.
**Required Qualifications**
- Completion of a recognized Recovery Coach program (or willingness to complete NAM’s in-house training).
- Lived experience in addiction or mental health recovery **and** the ability to use that experience appropriately to support others.
- At least 1 year of related work or volunteer experience (preferred).
- Valid **Class 5 Driver’s Licence** with a **clean driving abstract**.
- Excellent driving skills and familiarity with Calgary routes.
- **Comfortable working independently and with male clients in group settings.**:
- Food Handling and First Aid/CPR Certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Strong communication, emotional resilience, and professionalism in high-stress environments.

- Experience in holistic or complementary wellness practices (e.g., yoga, reiki, meditation, prayer).
- Flexible **availability across daytime, evening, and weekend shifts**.
- Open, energetic, and grounded with healthy personal boundaries.

**Working Conditions**
This front-line role involves supporting clients in recovery environments, which can be emotionally intense and unpredictable. Staff must remain calm, grounded, and compassionate under pressure. A **recovery attitude and trauma-informed mindset** are essential.
