**TENANT SUPPORT WORKER**

**POSITION OVERVIEW**:
Under the supervision of the Manager, Tenant Relations, the Tenant Support Worker will primarily provide housing related support to tenants residing in Wood Buffalo Housing Community Housing and Seniors self-contained properties.

**RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Working with vulnerable people and being able to help them identify personal goals and supporting them through a process of change
- Connecting tenants with community agencies
- Assist in managing difficult situations in relation to tenants
- A non-judgmental approach to working with people
- Self-motivated and able to work alone on a regular basis
- Understanding of professional boundary issues
- Experience working with people who have complex needs
- Assist tenants in their units as needed to de-clutter, clean, and prepare for pest control
- Maintaining tenant files/documentation
- Conduct regular visits and monthly inspections as required
- Other duties as assigned

**WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS**:

- Experience and knowledge of the Residential Tenancies Act, Health Act, Alberta Housing Act and the Alberta Building Codes preferred
- At least 3 years’ experience and sensitivity regarding social issues that may be impacting daily living and housing stability
- Experience in case management
- Experience working with seniors is an asset.
- Exemplary customer satisfaction skills, including dealing effectively with tenants, co-workers, general public, and management team.
- Effective communication, both written and oral.

**EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS**:

- Grade 12
- Post-secondary diploma in social work, human services or related disciplines required

**OTHER REQUIREMENTS**:

- First Aid with CPR Training (or willing to obtain)
- Valid class 5 driver’s license with 3 years of driving experience and clean abstract
- Must have own vehicle
- Must provide a Criminal Record Check for review and acceptance.
- Proof of vaccination for Covid-19.

**WORKING CONDITIONS**:

- Normal office conditions
- Travel within the urban service area is required and travel to the rural service area on an as needed basis.
- Evening and weekend hours as required.

**SALARY**:
**$35.37 per hour**

**Cost of Living Allowance of $480 bi-weekly included in rate of pay and is based on full-time hours worked.

Expected hours: 37.5 per week
