The Design assistant’s role consists of making sure that our design ideas are well communicated to our production teams as well as our suppliers. To develop and execute all technical details such as tech packs, fabric cards and maintaining archives. This position is a crucial part of our design team. The Assistant technical designer participates in developments, fittings, production, and the graphic design process. This is a full-time permanent position offering a very competitive salary based on experience. This role reports directly to the Senior Designer, and you will be working with the design team to provide assistance in the different tasks of the Au Noir design process.

RESPONSABILITIES
- Create initial garment tech packs and production files.
- Create spec sheets of each style following given guidelines.
- Participate in fittings and spec meetings and update necessary documents.
- Communicate well and clearly with overseas makers.
- Reviewing all samples to ensure details are properly done and quality is accurate.
- Maintaining fabric references, samples, archives and libraries.
- Preparing samples with sales team for tradeshows.
- Assist design team in their functions.

QUALIFICATIONS
- DEC diploma in Fashion design, BAC an asset.
- Minimum 1to 3 years’ experience in fashion design and/or technical design
- Menswear experience is an asset
- Knowledge of basic garment construction, pattern making and grading
- Strong knowledge of Adobe Illustrator
- Knowledge of Adobe Photoshop is an asset
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Outlook
- Highly organized with a strong attention to detail
- Sense of urgency, prioritizing skills and able to meet set targets and deadlines
- Bilingual French and English with good writing skills
