**Job Description**:
In accordance with the Vision, Purpose, and Values, and strategic direction of the Vancouver Island Health Authority (Island Health), patient and staff safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone; as such, the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.

Reporting to the Clinical Co-ordinator and working closely with the Senior Cook, the Community Retail Clerk is responsible for selling frozen meals as per the vocational training program for people living with mental health challenges who produce low cost meals for sale. These meals are available to clients in the community and promotes food security. The Community Retail Clerk organizes and tracks the sale of these meals.

The Community Retail Clerk works in collaboration with the team and regularly updates the meal sales inventory list which records meals that are sold and remaining as well as notifying the cook regarding the number of meals that are left in the freezer. The monies collected are tracked, recorded, co-signed by the cook and placed in a lock box which is further locked in the filing cabinet at the end of the shift. The freezers are locked and an inventory list is prepared for the following week. Signs for the meal pick up are in place at the beginning of the shift, removed at the end of the shift, and returned to the filing cabinet. Knowledgeable regarding current health and safety practices and ensures these are adhered to.

Routine cleaning duties include ensuring meal sales space is kept clean prior to and following sales duties. All supplies used are locked in the filing cabinet at the end of shift. Ensures reports, program materials and documentation is current and updated as required.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:
**Education, Training And Experience**:
Grade 12, recent related experience of six months or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Or, other qualifications determined to be reasonable and relevant to the level of work.

**Skills And Abilities**:

- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to work with others effectively.
- Ability to work with people impacted by a mental health and/or substance use disorder.
- Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
- Ability to operate related equipment.
- Ability to organize and prioritize workload.
