31.00 hours per 2 weeks, 0.40 FTE, 4 shifts in 2 weeks
**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**:
- Responsible for Resident and staff meal service, including preparation, portioning, serving and cleaning
- Follows work assignments for Food Service staff
- Opening of kitchen and prep of kitchen equipment
- Preparation of salads and salad bars; fruit, cheese and meat trays; sandwiches; desserts and dessert trays
- Preparation of minced and pureed meals
- Preparation of potatoes and vegetables of kitchen use
- Preparation of belt-line for tray up of meals; preparing trays for meal service
- Preparing and filling coffee and tea pots of meal service
- Service of meals in the main dining room
- Loading and delivery of food caddies and steam-tables to various pods and dining rooms
- Returning caddies to kitchen from pods; stripping and cleaning of caddies
- Delivery of dirty dishes to dishwashing area; assisting the dishwasher with dishwashing
- Cleaning of kitchen area, steam-tables, food carts and caddies; special cleaning projects
- Sweeping and mopping the kitchen; taking out the garbage
- Putting away food orders and items
- Closing down of kitchen and main dining room area
- Reports any unusual incidents in the Food Services area
- Promotes and maintains appropriate and effective communication with Residents, Food Service staff, staff of other departments, Residents' families, volunteers and visitors
- Ensures that equipment, procedures and activities are conducive to a safe environment for Residents, staff, volunteers and visitors
**QUALIFICATIONS**:
- Must have previous experience in resident meal delivery
- Must have experience assisting a cook
- A High School diploma is an asset
- A friendly disposition and good interpersonal and communication skills are required
**SPECIAL SKILLS**:
- Knowledge of the English language is required and knowledge of the Ukrainian of other Slavic languages is an asset
- Individual must be physically and mentally fit to perform the duties and responsibilities of the position
