**Installation Technician - Telecommunications**

**Position Summary**:
WaveStar Networks is seeking Installation Technicians and Team Leads to join our Ottawa based team who'll provide services to Datacentre/Telecom/Industrial users (perform installation, simple testing and maintenance of servers/routers/switches/storage/transport telecommunications equipment and connectivity).

**Responsibilities**:

- Perform installation, simple testing and maintenance of various types of Datacentre / Central-Office / Cable-Headend telecommunications equipment.
- Structured cabling including cutting, running, tying and crimping ethernet, switchboard, coaxial, fiber and power cabling.
- Install/Move/Add/Remove network servers, carrier grade switches, routers, storage and transport gear
- Planning, installation, test and commissioning and removal of BDFB’s, ironwork, DC cabling, fuse panel, circuit-breaker, liquid cell batteries and power rectifiers.
- Perform live cutovers to new or existing equipment.

**Qualifications**:

- A good mechanical aptitude and working knowledge of the use of simple hand tools, power tools and complicated specialty tools.
- General knowledge of equipment in common use in Datacentre/Telecom/Cable and remote sites, including installation, test and commissioning.
- Knowledge of ancillary equipment used in telecom installations, including but not limited to cables, connectors, steel work and other consumables that are used on a daily basis.
- Flexible and adaptable. Demonstrate the capability to be able to multi-task and accommodate a variety of assignments at various locations on a day-to-day basis.
- Own vehicle to commute to job site as some locations can be remote.
- Able and willing to travel as required for varying periods of time, often with short notice.
- Able to interpret Telecommunication Blueprints, Schematics and Specs and able to install equipment to specification.
- Able to interact with customer on-site personnel on job specific activities.

With head offices located in Richmond Hill ON, WaveStar Networks is a Canadian company with over 15 years’ experience providing a wide array of critical infrastructure and network services as well as professional and consulting services to telecommunication/ISP/Cable providers, data center operators and corporate/business/public sector customers.

Schedule:

- 8 hour shift
- Monday to Friday

Licence/Certification:

- Driver's Licence and access to personal vehicle (preferred)
