**Job Title: Database Admin**

**Location: Edmonton Alberta T5J 3W7 (Hybrid)**

**Duration: 05 months contract + 12 possible extension**

**Duties**:
This role is responsible for building, maintaining, and performance tuning production databases to deliver databases with appropriate levels of data availability and performance. This role is also responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing database procedures and standards.
- Provide technical expertise in database management systems to support systems development and operational activities.
- Maintain database authorization requirements.
- Maintain and enforce database security standards and procedures.
- Provide technical expertise to development teams, Application Maintenance Services and business teams if engaged.
- Perform DBMS software installations, plan and test upgrades.
- Disaster recovery preparation and testing.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation.
- Develop and automate system related procedures.
- Perform problem diagnosis, troubleshooting and resolution.
- Monitor on-going operations and perform on-going system administration tasks: release new versions; database tuning; capacity planning; historical archiving; database consistency and integrity checking; log file analysis; job scheduling; scripting; indexes; reorganizations; change control; and server requirements analysis.

**Qualification/Must HAVE**:

- DBA experience within an environment of similar size and complexity of Government.
- Experience and technical knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server.
- Experience as a SQL Infrastructure DBA (Backups, replication, installation, configuration)
- Experience with Microsoft SQL Server 2016 or higher.
- Experience with PowerBI, PowerView, Microsoft SQL Reporting, and Analytical Services.
- Experience with SQL Server High Availability Groups
- Experience working with querying data with Microsoft Transact-SQL Server.
- Experience with Amazon Web Services databases
- Experience with Azure SQL
- Experience with migrating on-premise databases to Azure or AWS
- Experience with open-source databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, MariaDB, CosmosDB, etc.
- Experience with PowerBI querying Azure SQL
- Experience with SQL Server Integration Services
- Experience with SQL Server replication
- Experience with troubleshooting performance issues within SQL Server 2016 or higher.
- Experience working in a multi-tenancy environment where developers do not have access to secured environments like User Acceptance Test or Production.
- Experience working with Oracle 19c or higher

**Job Type**: Fixed term contract
Contract length: 5 months

Pay: $58.00-$75.89 per hour
