**Responsibilities**:

- Schedule shop work and manage human resources in busy shop environment
- Ensure the shop has enough resources to meet project deadlines
- Troubleshoot and manage any work interruptions or delays. Communicate any issues, revisions or delays to management
- Direct or mentor welders to complete jobs efficiently, and to ensure that quality standards are met (API Q1)
- Understand and follow company safety policies and procedures to prevent accidents (COR), provide direction to staff on safety protocols
- Report on ongoing jobs, incidents, maintenance, or other reporting as required
- Ensure safe operations of equipment at all times and that welding equipment is maintained in peak condition
- Ensure welding procedures are followed
- Coordinate material management and tracking as per existing systems
- Improve productivity, shop morale, safety culture, and fabrication quality
- May perform other general duties as required

**Knowledge, Skills and Abilities**
- Firm-but-fair personality, capable of both keeping morale high while ensuring quality and productivity standards remain excellent
- Capable of cultivating respect calmly
- Experience with managing welders
- Experience supervising and providing direction to others
- High level of ability to read and interpret blueprints and perform calculations, measurements and math with the ability to conceptualize 3D objects from 2D drawings.
- Knowledge of codes (API, ABSA, ASME) and specifications with ability to interpret technical specifications
- Experience working with cranes and knowledge to safely lift loads
- Ability to create an environment of respect and entrepreneurial spirit
- Customer service focused
- Good English both spoken and written with the ability to communicate with respect and professionalism.
- Able to follow directions, meet deadlines and direct the work of others effectively with mínimal supervision
- Computer skills for recording and reporting information (Microsoft Outlook and Excel mainly)
- Reliable and dependable with a high degree of flexibility and adaptable to changing priorities, results oriented.
- Good problem-solving skills, able to use good judgment in response to unexpected problems.
- Must have excellent manual dexterity, attention to detail, eyesight and hand-eye coordination Physically capable of moving/lifting heavy objects, bending, standing, stooping repeatedly for extended periods
- Post secondary education preferred in an applicable field (Education, PMI - Project Management, Quality Control, etc.)

**Salary**: $40.00-$55.00 per hour
