They supervise staff, oversee workflow, and work closely with the Director of Collection Management Services, other units in the library, and campus and community partners. **Objectives**: - Ensure digital content is successfully created, described, and published - Adhere to ethics, rights, privacy, digitization best practices, and metadata requirements - Make UVic’s collections accessible to a global audience of researchers and other users - Support communication and promotion of digital collections - Job Requirements This position requires a level of education, training, and experience equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in any discipline and 5 years of relevant experience. An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered. **Knowledge, skills, and abilities include**: - Demonstrated experience with academic library digital collections workflows - Demonstrated experience with cultural heritage metadata standards and vocabularies (Dublin Core, Library of Congress Subject Headings, OCLC-FAST, Getty vocabularies, Geonames, rightsstatements.org, Homosaurus, Wikidata, etc.) - Demonstrated experience with digital library platforms (Samvera/Vault, Internet Archive, Dspace, etc.) and batch editing software (Excel, OpenRefine, etc.) - Ability to translate complex technical and metadata-related concepts to non-professionals (including faculty, researchers, and community members) - Knowledge of Persistent Identifier workflow and platforms, in particular Datacite and provision of DOIs - Commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive and respectful working and learning environment. - Demonstrated administrative and organizational skills. - Demonstrated experience leading and motivating a team of professionals. - Ability to identify and analyze issues, develop solutions, and implement effective strategies to achieve desired outcomes. - Ability to collaborate, build and maintain positive relationships with diverse individuals and work effectively in a team environment. **Territory Acknowledgement**: We acknowledge and respect the Lək̓ʷəŋən (Songhees and Xʷsepsəm/Esquimalt) Peoples on whose territory the university stands, and the Lək̓ʷəŋən and WSÁNEĆ Peoples whose historical relationships with the land continue to this day. **What UVic Offers**: To learn more click here
