**Title**: Housing Worker

**Location**: 490 Sherbourne St.

**Shift Rotation**: 40 Hours flexible schedule, Monday to Friday, 9:00am to 5:00pm

**Contract**:Full-Time, 1-year Contract (with possibility of extension)

**Salary**: $20.75 per hour

**Reports to**: Program Manager, Sherbourne THP

**Fife House** is an innovative, client-focused provider of secure and supportive affordable housing and services to people living with HIV/AIDS in the Greater Toronto Area. With approximately 110 staff working across 6 locations, in 2020-2021 Fife House served more than 850 residents and clients by providing supportive and transitional housing programs as well as outreach programs to homeless clients and their families.

**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**:
**Intake and Assessment**

Conduct initial assessments of clients to determine their needs, strengths, challenges and preferences regarding housing.

Gather and maintain documentation required for housing and intake processes.

Develop individual housing stabilization plans in collaboration with clients addressing specific needs and goals.

**Housing Navigation**

**Resource Coordination**

Facilitate access to community housing resources, including financial assistance and social services.

**Community Outreach**

Build relationships with local organizations, landlords and services to enhance support networks for clients

Assist in facilitating workshops or one-on-one sessions on housing and housing processes.

**Advocacy**

Advocate for clients' rights and needs with landlords, service providers, and housing agencies.

**Collaboration**

Work closely with shelter staff, volunteers, and external agencies to ensure comprehensive support for clients.

Attend Transitional Housing program staff meetings and case conferences to develop case strategies.

**Monitoring and Reporting**

Track client progress and report on outcomes to ensure effective program delivery and compliance with funding requirements.

Maintain accurate records and documentation of client interactions and housing plan progress.

**Crisis Intervention**

Provide immediate support and resources to clients in crisis situations, helping them stabilize and address urgent needs.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:
Bachelor's degree in social work, Human Services, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

A minimum of 2 years direct or transferable experience suitable to working effectively with people searching for housing supports.
- Strong understanding of housing policies and resources in the community.
- Prior or current experience in housing services
- Prior or current experience in creating and presenting workshops on Housing and Housing related issues
- Experience in community mental health and/or working with people who are marginally housed.
- Knowledge of community resources relevant to the target population being served and/or demonstrated ability to search for applicable resources/information;
- Experience working with marginalized populations is preferred.
- Good working knowledge and commitment to harm reduction, risk reduction, equity and diversity, anti-racism and anti-oppression principles and practices;
**SKILLS**:

- Ability to work collaboratively with clients, families, and community agencies.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Proficient in using computers and software for record-keeping and reporting.
- Good crisis management and dispute resolution skills;
- Good interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written);
- Basic computer literacy (Word, E-mail, Internet)

**ASSET**:

- Knowledge of HIV infection in the current context, including the impact of stigma and discrimination
- Naloxone Training
- Experience creating safety plans with at risk clients;
- Basic understanding of different psychiatric conditions;
- Experience working with addiction is preferable;
