**Position Summary**:
The Intake and Foster Coordinator is a self-motivated individual and an essential member of the SCAT team. The primary responsibilities of the Coordinator include: evaluating and processing requests for intake; soliciting, coordinating, and interacting with foster homes; maintaining partnerships with affiliated rescue groups and veterinary clinics.

The position reports to the President of the working Board. Interaction and interface with the Board and the Reception and Adoption Coordinator is an integral component of the position.

**Duties include** (but are not limited to):
Evaluate and approve requests for intake and placing the cats/kittens in appropriate foster homes

Evaluate, approve, and educate new fosters in conjunction with the home check team who will approve the space

Respond to all foster home and intake request inquiries within 2 business days

Advertising for fosters on SCAT’s Facebook pages using SCAT login

Liaising with the social media team to ensure adoptable cats are featured, especially those to highlight due to changing circumstances

Ensure all medical requirements are met during intake and while in care

Communicate with veterinary partners regarding new and ongoing medical issues, including obtaining all pertinent information for any requests that need board involvement

Ensure all data entry is completed for the cats/kittens placed in foster care

Determine placements for any returned cat and coordinate with Reception and Adoption Coordinator

Support and coordinate communication with active foster homes, partnered veterinary clinics and partnered rescues (i.e. Medical Authorizations, supply requests, etc.)

Communicate, support and coordinate volunteer activities when necessary; this may involve advertisement, recruitment, and training of volunteers for specific projects (e.g. data management, trapping initiatives, etc.)

Manage and maintain databases, files and paperwork, and other digital records for SCAT

Track and report daily calls/requests for help, maintain and manage waitlist

Create and monitor social media posts for intake and foster related tasks and duties

Assist and support the Reception and Adoption Coordinator when needed (full cross training is required)

Feed, medicate, and monitor any cats/kittens staying at the center

Light daily cleaning (e.g. litter boxes; sweeping and mopping; cleaning and sanitizing adoption center)

Provide open foster home and high level in progress case summaries to board to ensure successful weekend coverage

**Qualifications**:
A passion for feline welfare and a basic knowledge of animal care and responsibility

Ability to advocate on issues related to feline rescue

Excellent customer service skills

Ability to communicate in a professional and friendly manner

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Ability to type quickly and accurately

Organized, resourceful, proactive, and flexible

Minimum one-year professional computer experience using Microsoft Office and Google Workplace

Ability to manage high stress/emotional situations calmly and professionally

Maintain confidentiality related to SCAT activities (e.g. fosters, adoptions, partner relationships, etc.)

Strong problem solving skills

Capacity to adapt, prioritize, and multi-task in a busy and unpredictable environment

Specific knowledge of shelter management software programs (e.g. PetPoint; PetFinder) considered an asset

Previous employment/volunteer experience in a rescue or animal care facility considered an asset. RVT, Animal Health Technician, medical data understanding and entry, etc, preferred

Class 5 license and vehicle required as travel may be required

**Working Conditions**:
Physical office (may also operate as a temporary holding area for cats moving to foster homes or TNRM projects)

Environment can be noisy, odorous, and hectic

Exposure to potentially aggressive, injured, or diseased animals and infectious fluids and materials

Handling of potentially aggressive, scared, or timid cats and kittens for transfer, cleaning, medicating, etc

Interaction with the public is frequent and requires respectful, empathetic, and professional conduct

Lifting, bending, stooping, pushing and other potentially strenuous activities; lifting and moving up to 50lbs ie: food and litter

Exposure to cleaning agents

**Hours**:Full time 40 hours per week Monday to Friday

**Duration**:Permanent full time
