Transportation Specialist

**Position Summary**:
The Transportation Specialist will assist in planning and implementation of all aspects for transportation operations to meet our customer and internal/external warehouse stakeholder expectations.
**Responsibilities**:
The responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to the following:
- Organize and evaluate orders to ship/consolidate.
- Proactively provide creative solutions to meet expectations.
- Dispatch, rate and manage shipments/trips.
- Responds to customer inquiries.
- Confirm carrier payment accrual accuracy and approve accessorials.
- Track & trace orders and action accordingly
- Recruit and onboard new carriers to service the business.
- Manages carrier relationships.
- Negotiate rates and secure carriers on trips.
- Maintains all carrier rate updates in the Transportation Management Systems (TMS) environment.
- Maintain relationships and manage workflow with internal stakeholders.
- Define, test and implement continuous improvement in the transportation processes.
- Manage all transportation claims activity, follow up and settlement.
- Execute monthly performance reporting.
**Required Skills/Experience**:
- Minimum of 5 years in a transportation role, preferably within a warehouse or 3PL environment.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience with TMS, rate updates, load building, and order management.
- Good geographical knowledge to ensure goods are delivered properly, on-time with cost effective carrier.
- Effective and professional communicator (oral & written).
- Strong computer skills, including MS office, and intermediate knowledge of MS Excel.
- Strong analytic, organizing, and communication (oral & written) skills.
**Travel**: Based at 250 Summerlea Rd., Brampton, ON and regularly travel to 21 York Rd., Brantford, ON
**Academic/Education Requirements**:
- Post-secondary education in Transportation/Logistics, or a relevant field.
- CITT Certified Logistics Professional Designation or enrollment is an asset.
**NOTE**: Strong preference for new hires have full series of COVID-19 vaccine authorized by Health Canada.
