Full-time, PermanentThis position can be located in any of the following Provinces - BC, AB, SK, ON, QC, NBGraymont is hiring a Rail Specialist to support the efficient movement of raw materials and finished products (including limestone, quicklime, and low-carbon cementitious products) via rail. Reporting to the Supervisor Rail Operations and Fleet Planning, this role is responsible for coordinating rail logistics, managing a leased fleet of 1,200+ cars, and working with railroads and service providers to ensure safe, timely, and cost-effective deliveries.Rail Transportation SpecialistKey ResponsibilitiesCoordinate daily railcar movements, ensuring optimal routing, tracking, and exception management.Maintain strong working relationships with rail carriers, lessors, and service providers.Develop monthly forecasts and key performance reports; analyze trends and recommend improvements.Support carrier performance reviews and negotiate service improvements.Assist in securing rail rates and supporting contract administration.Drive continuous improvement and cost-reduction initiatives within rail operations.Collaborate cross-functionally with sales, supply chain, operations, and terminals.Administer and improve rail-related technology tools (e.g., billing, yard management, tracking).Support network optimization projects and provide internal consultation on rail logistics.Participate in budget preparation and ongoing cost performance analysis.QualificationsProfessional Experience: 5+ years of rail logistics or transportation experience, preferably in a supply chain environment.Education: Bachelor’s degree in business, Supply Chain, Logistics, or related field (logistics certifications an asset).Technology Requirements: Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with ERP systems (e.g., JDE) and data analytics tools (Power BI, Tableau, etc.).Beneficial Experience: Knowledge of bulk material logistics is a strong asset.Travel Requirements: Willingness to travel up to 20%.Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.Ability to manage multiple priorities and collaborate across departments.Who You AreDetail-Oriented: You demonstrate exceptional attention to detail and rigorous processes, consistently striving for excellence in your work.Adaptable: You are open to change and capable of adjusting to new situations and challenges with ease.Drive for Results: You set high standards and consistently work toward achieving goals, staying focused on delivering quality outcomes and exceeding expectations.Dealing with Ambiguity: You navigate uncertainty with ease, adapting quickly to changing circumstances and making informed decisions even when information is incomplete.Who We AreFounded in 1948, Graymont is a trusted global leader in essential calcium-based solutions.
