Respite Worker

**Job Title**:Respite Support Worker (Awake/Sleep Shift - Hybrid Model)** **Schedule**:12-16 hours overnight split shifts (Awake/Sleep) - 2 weekends a month required. **Location**:Garson (Greater Sudbury), ON **Pay Wage**: Receive minimum wage ($17.20/hr) during sleep hours and regular pay ($19-23/hr) during awake hours. **About us**:The Respite Care Centre offers specialized short term respite relief and supports medical, disabled and Autistic children, youth and young adults. **Benefits/Extras Include**: - Flexible work life balance - Ideal for those who prefer overnight shifts but don’t want to stay awake the entire time. - Get paid while having the opportunity to sleep during the shift. - Less physically demanding **Awake Shift - Respite Support Worker Duties (include but are not limited to)**: - Active Supervision while staying awake and alert throughout the “awake shift" to ensure client safety and well-being. - Supporting and assisting with personal care, repositioning, toileting, hygiene, and medical needs as required. - Monitoring & Documentation - Observing clients’ behaviors, needs, and overnight routines, and documenting any concerns or incidents. - Providing comfort while helping clients manage anxiety, restlessness, or sleep disturbances. - Complete light housekeeping duties, including tidying common areas, laundry, or snack prep if required. - Emergency Preparedness to respond to any emergencies and ensure a safe environment. - Assisting with wake-up routines and preparing clients for the next part of their day. - Building professional relationships with families and clients. - Required to be able to meet all physical and mental demands involved in the client’s care (lifting, bending, repetitive tasks, and high emotional situations etc.) **Sleep Shift - Respite Support Worker Duties (include but are not limited to)**: - You may sleep during your shift but must remain available to assist the Lead Worker with any client care needs throughout the night. - Responding to any disturbances, repositioning, or comfort needs as required. - Assisting the “Awake Shift” Worker with personal care in case of toileting, hygiene, lifting/transferring or medical needs during the night. - Ensuring a safe environment by being alert to any emergencies. - Assisting in preparing clients for the morning routine if needed. **Qualifications/Criteria**: - DSW, PSW and CYC graduates as well as 2 year students in the disciplines of Nursing, PSW or DSW - Medical and disability support care experience an asset - Valid driver’s licence and access to a vehicle - Advanced oral and written communication skills in English, French an asset **Job Type**: Part-time Pay: $17.20-$23.00 per hour Expected hours: 12 - 16 per week **Benefits**: - Flexible schedule - On-site parking Flexible language requirement: - French not required Schedule: - 12 hour shift - Evening shift - Night shift - Weekends only **Experience**: - working with children: 2 years (required) - working with aggressive behaviours: 2 years (required) Work Location: In person Application deadline: 2025-03-06 Expected start date: 2025-03-08
