This position is a part of the Association of the Academic Staff of the University of Alberta (AASUA).

Salary will be commensurate with experience in accordance with the Academic Teaching Staff (ATS) agreement.

**Location -**This role is in person. Work primarily takes place at North Campus Edmonton.

**Working for the Faculty of Kinesiology, Sport, and Recreation (KSR)**

The Faculty of Kinesiology, Sport, and Recreation (KSR) is consistently ranked in the top 20 faculties of its type worldwide (QS World University Rankings). It is home to approximately 1400 undergraduate students and 130 graduate students. In addition to its four undergraduate degree programs, KSR also offers Masters degrees, a suite of graduate certificates, and a world-class PhD program.

**Position**

This position requires primarily in-person teaching and teaching-related activities, on the University Campus, to facilitate students’ learning and progress through their degree program as well as the operational needs of the Faculty.

**Duties**

**Teaching and Teaching Related Activities (80%)**:

- Provides primarily in-person instruction to undergraduate, graduate, and/or graduate certificate students in settings such as classroom and laboratory (including sports and recreation facilities), fieldwork, electives, guest lectures, and seminars; distance or web-based delivery may also be required;
- Supports curriculum and related logistics to support students challenging selected professional certifications relevant to position content areas including Canadian Society for Exercise Physiology (CSEP) Certified Personal Trainer (CPT) and Clinical Exercise Physiologist (CEP) designations;
- Decides course content, course design, and instructional methodology and delivery for assigned courses;
- Decides student evaluation methodologies for the assigned course(s), monitors student progress, and provides timely feedback for classroom, laboratory, fieldwork, and practicum requirements;
- Ensures availability for student consultation within and outside of scheduled class, laboratory, fieldwork, or practicum times;
- Participates in graduate-level capstone projects, and/or serves as co-supervisor or committee member for thesis-based students and/or undergraduate thesis projects;
- Participates in inter-professional teaching activities and/or coordinates activities and instructors in shared courses;
- Contributes to content for incoming student orientation activities;
- Provides instruction, supervision or co-supervision, and/or mentorship to students (e.g., supervision undergraduate practicums/In field learning placements, undergraduate directed projects and theses, course-based masters research projects);
- Participates in scholarly teaching by remaining current and competent in the assigned course content, course design, and instructor performance in the classroom or clinical/fieldwork setting;
- Engages in teaching-related administrative duties;
- Attends orientations, academic-specific meetings or retreats, course-related meetings, and other activities related to teaching assignments;
- Other clearly defined teaching activities as appropriate, assigned, and agreed to at the time of appointment or during subsequent annual assignments.

**Service to the Faculty (10%)**:

- Participates in the governance of the Faculty through committee membership related to teaching and scholarship (e.g., Academic teaching staff evaluation committee; Undergraduate programs committee);
- Participates in, or leads curriculum/ program reviews for accreditation (e.g., Canadian Council of University Physical Education and Kinesiology Administrators (CCUPEKA));
- Participates in, or leads, curriculum development or specific curriculum-related initiatives;
- Provides teaching mentorship and develops/delivers teaching development content for other instructors and trainees;
