Cestar College of Business, Health and Technology is a private career college located in Toronto, Ontario. We are dedicated to helping students get the most from their training, and preparing them for successful careers. Cestar College is currently seeking an IT Co-op and Careers Advisor to guide our international students through their career development journey, specifically within the Information Technology domain.

The incumbent will provide students with co-op and career counselling, assistance in job searches through seminars and workshops, prepare students for their active co-op term, and maintain _MyCareer_online records system while monitoring students on co-op.

**Duties**:

- Meet with students as primary point of contact for co-op counselling
- Hold open office hours for resume drop-in and all other career counselling.
- Assist students in crafting industry-aligned resumes, focusing on technical skills, project experience, and utilization of tools like GitHub.
- Provide up-to-date insights on job opportunities, including co-op positions, internships, and full-time roles in the IT industry.
- Conduct mock interviews, emphasizing technical questions and behavioral scenarios relevant to IT roles.
- Manage co-op process for students preparing to enter co-op term, including all paperwork and access to various college online systems
- Determine eligibility of job offers for co-op and perform accompanying paperwork
- Evaluate student assignments for co-op courses within tight timelines.
- Organize workshops and seminars on relevant IT topics, industry trends, and professional development.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field. Master's degree preferred;
- Minimum three years of experience in the IT industry, with a strong understanding of technical terms and industry practices;
- Familiarity with tools and platforms such as GitHub, CI/CD pipelines, cloud services, and programming languages.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience in career counselling, coaching, or mentoring is a plus.
- Solid background in job search techniques, resume writing, and interview skills;
- Well-developed interpersonal, and relationship-building skills; with the ability to establish rapport with participants, employers, staff and students;
- Advanced problem solving, assessment and evaluation skills;
- Ability to work and make decisions independently, must demonstrate a high level of initiative;
- Excellent organizational, analytical and time management skills including the ability to set priorities and meet deadlines;
- Demonstrated professionalism and ability to handle confidential and sensitive material with tact and diplomacy, exercise discretion and judgement at all times;
- Demonstrated commitment to student success and satisfaction;
- Excellent written and oral communication skills;
- Strong commitment to providing excellent customer service and being an effective team player.
