We are currently recruiting for an **Environmental Science and Safety Assistant** to join our team

**Role & Responsibilities**
- Supervise First Aid Rooms, including Reports and Inventory
- Care of respiratory equipment
- Measure Average Gas Levels in Growing Rooms
- Order and update equipment and inventory
- Collecting water samples from outdoor sites
- Collecting data for Job Analyses
- Assisting with Claims management
- Safety Ambassador and support for safety culture
- Confined Space
- Perform the role of Muster Captain on Emergency Team
- Fall Protection
- First Aid Level ½
- Assist in safety workshops.
- Promote Joint Health and Safety Committee’s presence.
- Make safety videos specific to job.
- Other duties specific to the job

Qualifications/Skills
- Chemistry at post-secondary intermediate - advanced level
- Biology at post-secondary intermediate - advanced level
- Physics at post-secondary intermediate - advanced level
- Mathematics at post-secondary intermediate - advanced level
- Computer knowledge - Intermediate or advance (Microsoft Suite - Word, Excel etc., Typing skills 40 wpm)
- Advanced English language skill a must (Second language in Punjabi, Vietnamese, Thai, Cambodian, a huge asset)
- Previous health and safety experience in farm or manufacturing setting **6 months - 1 year**
- Diploma **at College Level or 1-2 years university with 2.5 or greater GPA.**
- Level ½ First Aid
- Record keeping, Report Writing and Research Skills.
- Previous office Experience a great asset and a willingness to work in a fast pace and ever-changing environment.
- Procedural Intuition
- Patient yet pro-active
- Life-long learner for steep learning curve
- Ability to tolerate a fact pace environment.
- Ability to manage own work schedule.
- Ability to do basic equipment search on phone and computer to support ESSS.
- Success oriented.
- Work-life balance
- Must be flexible since you will be working outdoors and indoors equally during all seasons.
- Have a strong interest in safety and be willing to work fulltime. Must have a car and be a good driver since we are not on the bus-route.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

**Salary**: $21.00-$28.00 per hour

**Benefits**:

Schedule:

- 10 hour shift
- 8 hour shift
- Monday to Friday
- Weekend availability

Ability to commute/relocate:

- Abbotsford, BC: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
