- What Is the Opportunity?
- Under limited supervision, this position is responsible for managing the workloads and work quality for PI and BI claims of staff General Adjusters, Executive General Adjusters, Claim Professionals*, Major Case Specialists, and Litigation Managers. May participate in preparation and response to catastrophes, and assist/work with our business partners. Superior technical skills are required to ensure that the highest level of quality is achieved on an every claim basis. Providing leadership direction, coaching, guidance, technical oversight and administrative oversight for designated staff of General Adjusters for effective technical first party claim handling. *Claim professionals: Claim Representatives, Senior Technical Specialists, Technical Specialists
What Will You Do?
- Provide assistance to and/or co-adjust with staff General Adjusters/Executive General Adjusters/Claim Professionals/Major Case Specialists/Litigation Managers.
- Manage a staff of staff General Adjusters/Executive General Adjusters/Claim Professionals/Major Case Specialists/Litigation Managers.
- Provide administrative and technical support including training and development, coaching and mentoring, conduct performance reviews, complete quarterly self-reviews and participate in annual file quality management review and, review and submit Large Loss Notices. Manage workloads, work product quality and level of customer support.
- Participate in round tables as needed and ensure compliance with adjuster licensing regulations, etc.
- Review work and within the Unit Manager authority, provide reserving and settlement authority.
- Disseminate geographically sensitive information including laws and regulations which may impact claim handling.
- Provide prompt and effective communication to our business partners; underwriting, risk control, marketing, subrogation, legal and other business units as warranted.
- Manage productivity and severity through interaction with loss assignment group.
- Manage litigation within assigned unit and oversee claim professionals who handle litigation.
- May manage and direct handle specialized claims as requested.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelors degree or equivalent experience.
- Proficient oral and written communication skills.
- Leadership skills including organization, planning, analytical, supervision, etc.
- Thorough knowledge of personal and business insurance products, policy language, exclusions, ISO and proprietary forms.
- Comprehensive knowledge of coverage and advanced proficiency in damage analysis.
- Ability to handle multiple jurisdictions and willingness to learn the law, claim regulations, first party DOI regulations and nuances of new jurisdictions.
- Technically proficient in the areas of coverage, claim management, investigation, damage verification and adjustment.
- Advanced negotiation skills.
- Advanced attention to detail, strong communication skills, constructively manage conflict and able to make decisions.
- Advanced decision making and time management skills
- Advanced conflict management.
- An adjusters license may be required pursuant to applicable provincial statutes.
- Valid Drivers license.
- CIP designation
What is a Must Have?
- Minimum of 7 years of experience handling complex claims.
- May require Valid Driver’s License.
- May travel 25% of the time.
