BUILD is seeking an CARE PLANNER - JUSTICE FOCUS to create smooth transition for potential trainees in Stony Mountain Institution into employment and training at BUILD. The CARE PLANNER - JUSTICE FOCUS will work alongside BUILD’s Culture Keeper and engage with potential trainees currently incarcerated, as well as existing trainees and staff with experience with the criminal justice system, providing support, care, and resources needed to ensure their success.

The _Care Planner - Justice Focus_ provides continuity of relationship between individuals leaving incarceration at Stony Mountain Institution into employment and training at BUILD, as well as provides case management and support services for BUILD trainees.
**POSITION DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**
The _Care Planner - Justice Focus_ operates under the direction of the Training and Support Manager, and in collaboration with Training Department and Social Enterprise Manager, and is responsible for:
**Case Management - 70%**
- Case management of trainees with experience with the criminal justice system, including regular communication and follow-up on work experience progress; additional focus provided on trainee retention and those exhibiting difficulty or risks in transitioning to full-time employment (eg. lateness and absenteeism).
- Developing trusting relationships with specifically referred potential trainees at Stony Mountain Institution.
- Supporting BUILD’s Culture Keeper in cultural teaching and expression
- Cultivating and strengthening relationships with external services, and facilitating referrals for additional supports. This includes, but is not limited to CAHRD, Citizen’s Bridge, counseling, addictions, housing, child care, and anger management.
- Liaising with Trainee’s Parole Officers, Case Workers and other social service supports.
- Evaluating, with the Training Department and Social Enterprise Manager, individual Trainees’ as needed.
- In collaboration with Training Department staff and the Social Enterprise Manager, ensuring regular communication with Trainees on their progress in the classroom, shop and jobsite.
- Supporting Trainee and Training Department staff with developing goals and an exit plan.
- Participating in regular case management meetings with Skills Instructors and support staff.
- Communicating essential information with Executive Director, Training, and Social Enterprise Departments
- Performing other duties consistent with this job description and BUILD’s personnel policies, standards and procedures.
**Program & Administration**
- Contributing to the Information Sessions for intake of potential trainees.
- Participating in the hiring and orientation of Trainees.
- Maintaining case and data files on trainees, including providing reporting data to the Executive Director.
- Supporting additional program development of supplementary skills-enhancement activities.
**EDUCATION & QUALIFICIATIONS**
- Formal training in Case Management, with a minimum of 1 years’ experience; or a minimum 3 years’ experience in the field.
- Significant experience working with people with multiple barriers to employment, or marginalized populations.
- Experience working with individuals who have engaged with the criminal justice system
- Demonstrated comprehensive knowledge of social services available to both Indigenous and non-Indigenous people in Winnipeg; and established relationships with social service providers (i.e. addictions & mental health supports, housing, justice, advocates, anger management).
- Knowledge and experience with Indigenous culture, history, and the story of colonialism in Canada.
- Experience delivering skills training workshops and public presentations.
- Superior interpersonal skills and ability to work independently, as well as part of a team.
- Excellent computer and file management skills in a Microsoft Office environment.
- A valid class 5 driver’s license is required;
- Willing to obtain a child abuse registry check and criminal record check.
