The Education and Student Placement Lead is responsible for implementing Education Programs and Student Placements from Fleming College within St. Joseph’s at Fleming, by working collaboratively with Fleming College, employees, administration, and members of senior management. The Educator has a focus on continuous improvement and person-centered care, while ensuring adherence to St. Joseph’s at Flemings and Fleming Colleges relevant policies, procedures, mandatory education, ministry/legislative requirements, and collective agreements, under the direction of the Director of Resident Care.
This is a shared position between St. Joseph’s at Fleming and Fleming College, working on site at St. Josephs at Fleming.
**Responsibilities**
- Responsible for leading, developing and implementing SJF’s Education and Student Placement programs, liaising with Fleming College and other external resources as required
- Provide training on orientation, mandatory education, policies and procedures and current ministry/legislative requirements
- Coach and mentor all levels of Nursing Staff to ensure quality and compliance within their roles
- Champion continuous improvement and education initiatives
- Maintain all necessary databases and paperwork as required
- Effectively communicate pertinent information with all necessary parties, within SJF, ensuring an appropriate and effective flow of communication
- Provides appropriate and timely reports to Nursing and Senior Leadership as assigned
- Completes audits and other documentation reviews as assigned
- Functions within the confines of relevant legislation, codes, acts, policies, procedures and standards and collective agreements
- Participate in annual education, required in-services, committees and adheres to St. Joseph’s at Flemings and Fleming Colleges relevant policies and procedures
**Qualifications**
- Current Registration as a Registered Nurse with the College of Nurses of Ontario, without restrictions
- Bachelor of Science Degree (Nursing) preferred
- Gentle Persuasive Approaches (GPA) certificate an asset
- Proficiency working with Point Click Care (PCC) and RAI MDS considered an asset
- Completion of a Canadian Infection Control Course (CHICA) or another infection prevention and control course will be considered an asset
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in Long Term Care or equivalent preferred
- Minimum 3 years’ related educational instructor/trainer experience in Long Term Care an asset
- Experience mentoring or precepting students in a clinical learning environment is an asset
- Demonstrated ability to supervise staff in a unionized environment
- Must have proficient computer skills, proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Scheduling Systems., experience with Quadrant an asset
- Must be able to work weekends, statutory holidays, and varied shifts
- Must have excellent written, verbal, and nonverbal communication and interpersonal skills
- Possess strong conflict resolution skills and critical thinking skills
- Ability to work both independently and in a team environment
