Job Title

The Role: The Quality Assurance Supervisor with working knowledge of the Safe Foods for Canadians Regulations, GFSI schemes (BRC/SQF/FSSC 22000), will be responsible to ensure compliance with all applicable regulations, foster a culture of quality and continuous improvement, and verify that systems are in control at the facility, shall assist in identifying and resolving food safety and quality issues.
Key Responsibilities
:
- Act as a member of the team, enforcing and promoting Quality Management System (QMS).
- Implements corrective actions, coaches’ staff, and report deviations to Operations Manager and/or Production Supervisor.
- Manages HACCP/QMS documentation, audit preparation, and support system development and maintenance.
- Verifies sanitation and cleaning processes for premises, equipment, and housekeeping.
- Monitors production floor activities, including CCP verification, in-process documentation, metal detection, and chemical concentration checks.
- Executes microbiological sampling programs (food and environment) using aseptic techniques.
- Leads product recalls, new product launches, trials, and shelf-life studies.
- Participates in external audits (FSSC 22000, client, CFIA) and complaint investigations.
- Ensures adherence to safety standards and enforce through counseling and corrective action.
- Provides training on HACCP, FSSC 22000, GMPs, and customer requirements.
- Performs additional QA functions as directed, including:
- Record and on-site verifications
- Label approval/update
- QA hold/release
- Monthly audits
- Specification creation Qualifications:
- Minimum 3 years as QA/FS Supervisor or 5 years as QA Technician.
- HACCP Certification required; SQF Certification preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Animal Science, Biological Science, or Supply Chain/Operations required.
- Strong computer skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). Key Attributes for Success:
