**Job Description**:
The General Supervisor - Warehousing - Parts Distribution Center will be responsible for the following:
- Lead in executing the business operational plan for the Vancouver PDC.
- Proactively pursue General Motors’ vision and values.
- Foster an atmosphere of integrity, accountability, teamwork and cooperation.
- Work involves the supervision of a small to medium group of salary and hourly employees engaged in parts distribution operations.
- Effectively and efficiently co-ordinate staffing requirements for the day to day operations of the Parts Distribution Center (PDC) with mínimal guidance from plant manager.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Promote safe work practices and achieve objectives, health and safety and housekeeping
- Empower supervisors and team members to take leadership roles to complete tasks
- Create an environment that encourages individuals to achieve their peak performance and engagement
- Train, develop and evaluate salaried and hourly employees to effectively perform their jobs utilizing standardized methods
- Achieve business results by creating a work environment that fosters a positive and inclusive culture that is based on feedback and recognition
- Achieve and maintain GMS OPE Certification
- Control costs and achieve productivity improvements
- Maintain strong awareness of quality standards, communicate department quality goals and leverage resources to solve quality problems
- Drive quality performances through standardized work practices
- Utilize statistical methods and data from voice of customer and voice of process for continuous improvement
- Participate in employee relations activities and discipline
- Participate in the selection of new employees
- Utilize human resources in accordance with corporate policies and procedures and government regulations
- Communicate between departments and other business units to implement best practices, resolve problems and sustain consistent performance to objectives
- Provide a leadership role in the implementation of major department initiatives and projects and oversight
- Assist in the development of the facility and processes using the plan for change process
- Keep up-to-date of parts distribution center performance reports and costs
- Support CCA Growth Strategy through exceptional customer experiences
- Perform other administrative tasks, as required
**Required Skills and Experience**
- Demonstrated knowledge of corporate, division and plant policies, health and safety, employee relations
- Demonstrated high level of interpersonal skills to effectively lead, motivate and facilitate others in group situations
- Proficiency in team building and ability to create an environment that allows for measured risk taking
- Demonstrated ability to effectively organize and plan
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively at all levels of the organization
- Demonstrated high level analytical ability to assess and identify appropriate alternative courses of action for definition and resolution of problems that are unique and diverse
- Ability to exercise independent judgment
- Demonstrated thorough knowledge of GMS principles
- Demonstrated knowledge of financial management concepts to improve costs
**Preferred Skills and Experience**
- Knowledge of warehousing operations, processes, and equipment
- Multi-department experience preferred
- Knowledge of GMS
**Education and Training**
- Bachelors’ degree or equivalent training &/or equivalent experience
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as first-line supervisor of hourly employees in a warehousing / manufacturing environment
