The Head of Product and Pricing, Individual Insurance is accountable for the overall leadership of Manulife’s industry-leading insurance product shelf, and setting and executing strategies for product development, pricing, and support. This leader will report to the Head of Individual Insurance Canada and will bring a client-centric mindset to help lead the team's evolution and scale the function.

As a member of the Insurance Leadership Team (ILT), the Head of Product and Pricing will deliver on our strategy of fostering a high-performance culture, developing our people, and cementing ourselves as the top insurance company in Canada. They will be a valuable member at the ILT table providing input and opinions on our overall business strategies and decision-making. They will be responsible for the structure of the team, achieving financial results, managing operating expenses, developing long term product strategies, sponsoring product projects, and representing us externally with distribution partners.

**Key Accountabilities**

We’re looking for an engaging and transformational leader with a focus on developing and building teams. A collaborative, transparent leader who can communicate a vision and engage individuals to work towards objectives and challenge status quo. This role requires a highly visible leader who can collaborate across the company, leveraging with many disciplines, including actuaries, delivery teams, advisors and clients.

**Strategic leadership**:

- Designing a strategic roadmap for product development and pricing that balances the need to achieve short term targets and long-term growth.
- As a member of the ILT, actively contribute to overall insurance strategy.
- Representing the product team in meetings with senior management, including active participation in the development and presentation of business cases relating to product and pricing initiatives while also providing input to related strategies such as distribution, underwriting, and new business process.
- Cultivate a strong culture of accountability and excellence; communicating strategic direction and build team engagement.
- Establish strong relationships with various disciplines, such as actuaries, delivery teams, advisors, and clients.
- Embrace and embody the Manulife values.
- Adapt to and lead change on a regular and frequent basis in a competitive environment.

**Product development and pricing**:

- Oversee all aspects of individual insurance product development and pricing, including new product development, new business profitability and risk analysis, competitive intelligence, tax and estate planning, and product support.
- Maintain a product shelf that leads the market in competitiveness, while keeping risk and profitability at acceptable levels.
- Monitor trends in the market and within the portfolio to find competitive opportunities and threats and identify emerging risks.
- Develop overall new business reinsurance strategy and manage relationships with reinsurers to maximize return on capital.
- Continually develop our industry-leading thought experts, including tax and estate planning and actuarial expertise.

**Leadership, mentorship and people development**:

- Attract, develop, engage, coach, and retain a high performing team to deliver on growth and financial targets in line with our business objectives.
- Work with internal partners to provide clear direction and strategy for the team.
- Build a clear succession strategy for roles throughout the organization.
- Foster a results-driven environment where roles at all levels work together to achieve overall objectives.

**Qualifications**
- Bachelor’s degree within Finance or certifications a plus.
- Minimum 10 to 15 years of experience in the financial services industry with a deep knowledge of Individual Insurance products.
- FSA, FCIA designations are an asset.
- Understanding of the Canadian Insurance competitive environment.
- Leadership and people management skills with the ability to motivate and energize a team towards common goals.
- Experience in networking, negotiation, influencing and creative thinking skills.
- Build and maintain relationships with senior management across functions and divisions.
- Resilient delivery mind-set with a strong execution focus.
