York Railroad Construction Inc. is a full-service contractor for the railway industry. We are located out of Burlington, ON with offices throughout Canada.

Our mission is to deliver safe, cutting-edge and environmentally sustainable maintenance and construction services to railway track owners and operators across Canada. We design, build and maintain all levels of rail for various clients.

The Administrative Assistant is a vital role to the core Payroll and Administrative team at York Rail. This role will support a split of Payroll and Administrative heavy tasks to the Operational, Financial, and overall business functions throughout their term.

This role does require an experienced professional in a fast-paced, team based working environment. As York’s Admin team is fully remote, being able to function in such an environment while maintaining working relations and completing core tasks are fundamental to be successful in this role. An individual that is tech savvy with basic computer skills, Googles Work Suite, MS Office and a bit of tech trouble shooting skills would be preferred. We are looking for a respectful, flexible, open minded and determined individual to join our team.

This role would be best suited for a professional looking to grow their career within Payroll, Financial Compliance, Office Management and/or Office Administrative roles.

This is a 16-month contract role with a possibility to extend into a fulltime position. This role is mostly remote, but will require your attendance for various team building activates and/or work-related meetings.

**Job Duties**

Administrative Assistant duties will be, but not limited to:

- Payroll - creation - verification and coordinate with operations.
- Support for maintaining proper documentation of financial policies and procedures
- Support for preparation of government remittances
- Entering employee receipts and managing credit cards
- Communicating with employees
- Support travel planning needs.
- Support in reconciliation of Monthly credit cards and accounts
- Coordinate between administration and operations
- General word processing (Word)
- Entering expenses into systems
- General office/administrative related duties

**Job Requirements**:

- Completion of a Bachelors’ degree or College Diploma from a recognized Canadian institute
- 1 Year of Payroll/Office Administrative experience at minimum
- 1 Year of Payroll Software experience is an asset
- Native proficiency for ENGLISH, French is an asset
- Excellent computer skills - Microsoft Office, PDF, Nuance, Google
- Effective time management skills, ability to multi-task
- Verbal communication skills. Teamwork, Tactfulness and courtesy
- Attention to details, excellent data review and processing skills
- Must have unlimited high speed internet connection at residence

**Job Types**: Full-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 16 months

Pay: From $20.00 per hour
