**Position Profile**

**Position Title**:Digital Literacy and Employability Instructor**

**Pay rate**:$20-22/hour based on experience and skillset; reimbursed for mileage if at an offsite community partner

**Hours a week**:37 hours / week -Contract based on the Ministry funding plus health and dental benefits

**Reports to**:Executive Director (ED) or designate

**Position Summary**:
This role requires some travelling within Peel, and the incumbent must be comfortable using Zoom to deliver online training to various demographic clients.

The role will support Brampton Location and other strategic community partners’ locations in Peel. We are a community-based non-profit adult literacy delivery agency entrenched in the Peel region that strives to provide adults in need of basic language, math, computer, and literacy skills.

**Key Duties and Responsibilities**
- At least 2-3 years of experience teaching adults in a group setting is a definite asset
- Ability to adjust teaching style to varying skill levels is required
- Clear understanding of the LBS (Language and Basic Skills) Program
- Be able to multitask, receive cross-training, and participate in running and instructing other programs as needed.
- Having worked within the Ontario Adult Learning Curriculum Framework (OALCF) with an intermediate understanding of the Ministry of Labour, Training and Skills Development (MLTSD) Milestones structure would be a definite advantage for success in the role. Training will be provided if the incumbent does not have this.
- Ability to respond to a range of adult students’ needs and learning styles is needed for success in the role.
- Understanding of how learning disabilities can affect the progress of learning and adjusting your style accordingly to fit the class/workshop demographic would be a definite asset.
- Highly motivated and able to work effectively as an individual and as part of a team.
- Ability to develop or co-develop technology curriculum to deliver to target demographic is a definite asset
- Experienced and knowledgeable in online training and distance learning
- Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work in a multicultural environment
- Ability to drive and commute within Peel with access to a personal vehicle is required. Mileage will be reimbursed

**Qualifications**:

- College diploma and previous Adult Digital Literacy teaching experience would be favourably looked upon
- Proficient in MS Office and Google Suite, and other technologies is a definite asset
- Must be comfortable working with files on the cloud and use different online tools to save and manage files
- Understanding of the Ministry of Labour, Training and Skills Development (MLTSD) funding model would be considered an asset
- Understanding of the Ontario Adult Learning Curriculum Framework (OALCF) would be an asset
- Flexibility of time; ability to work on a different day-time schedule, evenings and different locations would be an asset

**Computer Lab**:
Maintain the computer teaching room/labs and an inventory of information and technology equipment (hardware and software) in partnership with the IT Coordinator.

**Working Environment**:

- Low to moderate stress levels given time of year and student registration volumes, and community partner needs
- Our environment is dynamic and fast-paced - must be able to interact with a variety of community members and community partners and target demographic that we service in the Peel region.
- Must be comfortable interacting with persons with developmental disabilities, different learning styles, ethnic backgrounds, and learning barriers
- A vulnerable sector check will be required upon offer of employment.

**Salary**: $20.00-$22.00 per hour
