**Job description**

As the Director of Care, you are responsible for the coordination and implementation of resident care, based upon pre-established standards, to promote a high quality of life for each resident.

**Requirements**:

- Current registration as Registered Nurse (RN) or Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) in good standing.
- Current CPR and First Aid.
- Experience in geriatric, rehabilitation or retirement care.
- Experience with Dementia/Alzheimer’s is an asset.
- Knowledge of the nursing process.
- Skills in planning, coordinating and supervising a comprehensive nursing care program.
- Valid drivers license.
- Excellent leadership, communication and interpersonal skills.
- Must demonstrate an active interest in ongoing education and participate in mandatory educational in-services.
- Computer literate.

**Duties Include, but are not limited to**:

- Directing, coordinating, and supervising the overall nursing department.
- Responsible for the assessment, admission and discharge of all residents.
- Meeting with residents and their families to develop and or review care plans and resolve any problems/concerns/complaints that may arise.
- Recruiting and hiring and onboarding, qualified nursing personnel.
- Completing required monthly reports for both the General Manager and Senior Management.
- Responsible for control and safekeeping of drugs and narcotics, and supervising the drug administration program, including the administration of medication by all staff.
- Performing other duties, as required.
