Healthcare Security Officer - Western Memorial Regional Hospital

**TYPICAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Log and report all incidents reported by hospital staff, physicians, patients or visitors
- Patrol the Mental Health Unit of WMRH and prevent unauthorized entry; in a composed manner direct individuals initiating disruption to leave the area under clinical direction
- While on patrol, monitor risks such as unlocked doors, blocked entrances and exits, mechanical issues, hazardous material, items that could be used to cause bodily harm and additional breaches of security
- 2-way radio use and professionalism
- Respond to alarms and emergency calls for assistance.
- Monitoring situations, cameras, property and events
- Communicate in a truthful and receptive manner under all circumstances as well as provide information regarding the facility as requested by authorized personnel
- Sustain effective relationships with key stakeholders, patients and visitors through courteous and respectful relations perceived from their viewpoint though execution of Patient Family Centered Care
- Monitor, screen and potentially search visitors and clients in a professional manner to grant entry into the Mental Health Facility.
- Report any perceived adverse or behavioral changes in clients to Clinical Staff in a timely manner to aid in the overall care for the patients.

This historic hospital located at 1 Brookfield Avenue in Corner Book is a 217-bed facility which aids in providing secondary services to approximately 78,000 individuals occupying the Western Regional. Today, the Mental Health Program occupies and area of the Western Memorial Regional Hospital providing mostly acute care at the facility.

**Additional training in the following would be considered and asset**:

- Mental Health First Aid
- Trauma Informed Training
- Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) Training
- Degree/Diploma in Social Science
- $19.00/hour#IND24
