Overview

We’re looking for a highly motivated **Co-op Student, Emergency & Threat Management** to join our **Corporate Security & Threat** **Management** department.

At WorkSafeBC, the Corporate Security and Emergency Management (CSEM) department is responsible for ensuring the safety of personnel and properties while managing the organization's emergency response program. We implement effective security measures through visible on-site security, environmental design for crime prevention, and technology-based access control and monitoring. CSEM also handles investigations, manages high-risk clients, and provides staff education on workplace safety topics.

The co-op student will be contributing to the effectiveness of WorkSafeBC by reviewing and enhancing the existing Threat Management System.

This is a four-month full-time position starting in January 2025.

At WorkSafeBC, we offer a **hybrid work model** that combines the convenience of working remotely with the dynamism of working in one of our offices, based on the operational needs of the position.

What you'll do

On Day 1 in this role, you will get a chance to meet your manager and get acquainted with your team. You will spend time setting up administrative and technological essentials, and completing onboarding tasks, including security and payroll setup.

During your first week you will engage in a comprehensive onboarding program designed to equip you for success. You will be partnering and meeting with your manager to discuss your goals and align them with the team’s vision. Additionally, you will learn how our department contributes to the overall business strategy and supports the organization’s mandate. You will also work through the onboarding program alongside your supervisor for added guidance and support.

The duties below will not only streamline our threat management process and enhance overall security efficiency but also benefit from your keen eye for detail and collaborative spirit.
- Review and refine Threat Occurrence Reports, ensuring accurate classification and up-to-date status.
- Assist in migrating documents from the current network to our new SharePoint platform.
- Revive and update dormant Threat Occurrence Reports within the system.
- Screen and prioritize incoming Threat Occurrence Reports for the Corporate Security team.

**Your background and experience**
- Enrolled in a co-operative education or work integrated learning program.
- Enrolled in a Criminology, Emergency Management, Threat Management or Business Administration school program.
- Some academic or professional or volunteer level of knowledge in corporate security, risk management and/or business analysis field.
