Reports To: Program Manager, Greystone

Summary

The Cleaner will be responsible for keeping the Greystone Centre clean and orderly. Cleaning duties may include but are not limited to sweeping, vacuuming, and washing floors; cleaning and stocking restrooms; dusting and wiping surfaces; washing dishes and kitchen equipment, including fridges, stoves, and appliances; cleaning, drying, and folding laundry; removing garbage, performing routine maintenance activities, and cleaning snow or debris from sidewalks when needed.

This position will work between 8-10 hours weekly.

Rate of Pay: $19.00-$20.00 per hour.

Job Duties
- Locks or unlocks doors, turns lights on/off, and generally patrols grounds.
- Performs general clean-up of the Greystone Centre
- Sweeps, mops, polishes, refinishes resilient floors, vacuums, dumps garbage and recycle bins, performs all cleaning aspects of halls, the office, program rooms, closets, restrooms, kitchen, as well as washes walls, windows, wipes down furniture and window coverings.
- Cleans and stocks restroom facilities.
- Cleans floors including hard surfaces, rugs and carpets.
- Gathers, washes, dries, and puts away bathroom and kitchen towels and cleaning rags.
- Interacts with community members, program participants and staff in a friendly and professional manner.
- Maintains outside grounds (removes snow, ice, and debris).
- Determines, records, and communicates needed supplies and equipment.
- Maintains a clean and orderly kitchen by washing dishes, sanitizing surfaces, taking out trash etc.
- Monitors need for equipment maintenance and repair.
- Cleans light fixtures and changes bulbs/tubes if required.

**Requirements**:

- Cleaning experience and skills.
- Highly motivated and able to work independently.
- Must be able to maintain expected attendance and prioritize work for self.
- Must be available for the priority hours of work determined for this role with the flexibility to adapt to changing requirements.
- Ability to comprehend and communicate detailed instructions orally and in writing.
- Ability to multi-task and establish priorities.
- Exhibits initiative, responsibility, and flexibility.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Possesses a valid driver's license.
- WHMIS Certification
- High level of sound and independent judgment and reasoning.
- Ability to interpret and implement company policies and procedures.

- First Aid skills and/or certificates are considered assets.

Work Conditions
- Physical ability to lift up to 75lb.
- Safety equipment required, e.g. non-slip enclosed shoes, safety glasses, gloves.
- Majority of shift spent standing/on feet.
- Hazards associated with general cleaning and maintenance.
