NATURE OF THE ASSIGNMENT
As an authorized International Baccalaureate World School, offering the Primary Years Program (IB PYP), the staff at Queen Mary are committed to working collaboratively in the design and implementation of instruction. The BC curriculum is delivered within the framework and philosophy of the IB PYP. Staff members work together in the development and implementation of IB PYP action plans and school goals (specifically literacy and numeracy for 2024-25). In the 2024-25 school year Queen Mary will be undergoing an IBO Evaluation in which all staff members will be taking part. Commitment to, involvement in the evaluation process is required. Days of work are Monday, Tuesday, and Friday.
NECESSARY QUALIFICATIONS
A Bachelor of Education Degree (Intermediate).
Successful experience teaching at the Intermediate level.

Is committed to professional collaboration - will meet regularly with the IB Programme Coordinator and colleagues to:
ensure adherence to the IB Programme Standards and Practices
plan and reflect on units of inquiry
conduct whole-staff reflections on development of the programme
Agrees to attend IB-sanctioned professional development
Ensures all expectations set by the IBO concerning programmes and procedures are carried out accordingly and in a timely manner
Assists with supervising students (Creativity, Action and Service, the Personal Project or Exhibition)
Participate in the self-study and programme reflections
GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS, ATTRIBUTES and EXPERIENCE
Strong commitment to excellence in teaching and demonstrated teaching ability.
Demonstrated ability to design and implement a variety of assessment practices to measure and monitor student progress effectively.
Strategies to identify learning difficulties and implement effective intervention to maximize academic success.
Demonstrated successful experience supporting the success of all learners in an inclusive environment.
Strong organizational skills.
Excellent oral communications, written communication, and group facilitation skills.
Superior work ethic and social emotional competencies, excellent reflective judgment, and commitment to building effective learning communities.
Comprehensive understanding of curriculum.
Confidence and proficiency in using instructional organizers, concepts, and strategies that actively engage all students in learning.
Ability to positively influence instruction, curriculum, assessment, and social-emotional learning practices in a collaborative environment.
Willingness to be involved in professional development, with an ongoing commitment to learn and implement new methodologies and strategies.
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with students, parents, and staff to enhance the school as a learning community.
**CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT**:
Possession of a BC Teaching Certificate
Membership in the BC Teacher Regulation Branch.
A member of the North Vancouver Teachers’ Association and the BC Teachers’ Federation.
