What You’ll Be Working On

Our internships and Co-ops are designed to provide you with a business relevant project that will allow you to independently manage your own area of responsibility, while receiving support from an assigned Supervisor and Technical Mentor. We’ll help you discover your strengths and development areas in a challenging, fun, and supportive work environment.
We are seeking students to join us for a 4-8 month co-op position starting in May 2024. This position will be based out of Mississauga ON.Responsibilities-
- Collaborate closely with employees and subcontractors to conduct daily quality inspections.
Complete inspections for various construction activities, such as concreting work, earthworks, and subcontracted work, ensuring adherence to project specifications.
Review and verify compaction and concrete test results from third-party subcontractors.
Maintain detailed documentation and records related to inspections and quality management.
Generate Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) when necessary and coordinate resolution with relevant stakeholders.
Assist in the development and implementation of the Project Quality Plan.
Work with the Quality Manager to ensure that quality procedures are established and traceability is maintained throughout the project.
Collaborate with the client on project-specific activities, including inspections and document review for final acceptance.
Support the implementation of Corrective Action Reports (CARs) and NCRs based on audit findings.
Develop written plans and procedures for project-specific activities to enhance task planning and compliance.
Manage and control the document control process for quality and project documents.
Review and approve quality documentation submitted by subcontractors.
Collaborate with Bird Supervision, Client Representatives, and subcontractors during construction and final walkdowns.
Interpret drawings and specifications for field crews to ensure compliance and understanding.
Work with the engineering team to address technical issues through Requests for Information (RFIs) and technical queries.
Audit subcontractors' quality management systems to ensure compliance with project scopes of work.
Actively contribute to the enhancement of quality processes and procedures.
Perform other duties as assigned to meet the evolving needs of the business.Who We Need On Our Team-
- You are currently enrolled in an engineering or construction related diploma or equivalent
You will complete at least one more semester of education following your internship and possess a GPA of 3.0 or higher
Ability to lead and operate within an environment where change happens frequently
Ability to forge, grow and maintain positive relationships

Highly developed interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
Sense of urgency and strong commitment to achieving goals
Ability to work collaboratively with a positive attitude
Residency, or a valid work permit which would allow you to work for Bird Construction or one of our wholly owned subsidiaries
