RESPONSIBILITIES

PORT PASSES

Issue and maintain the Port Pass system for longshore workers throughout B.C. in accordance with all Transport Canada regulations, some travel may be required. Maintain a productive/business like relationship with Union...

UPDATE SECURITY CLEARANCES

Regularly update security clearances for longshore workers throughout B.C. in accordance with regulations. Respond to various queries regarding port passes and security clearances.

POLICIES & PROCEDURES

Perform all job functions with strict adherence to all BCMEA policies and procedures. Perform other duties as assigned.

TEAMWORK

Work closely with other dispatchers in a team environment. Work closely with the Dispatch team as a resource on various projects and initiatives.

HRIS ADMINISTRATION

Administer the BCMEA HRIS systems and maintain updated dispatch information including but not limited to move slips, ratings, medical exemptions etc.

CREATE REPORTS

Create ad hoc reports as requested by the Director / Manager.

OFFICE SUPPLIES

Order and track office supplies.

EFFICIENCY IMPROVEMENTS

Provide on-going input/feedback on processes, program requirements to improve the efficiency of office administrative systems and task workflow.

SUPPORT STAF

Provide admin support to dispatch staff.

REPORTING

Report any updates or pertinent issues that need addressing to the Supervisor and Director as required.

ATTEND MEETINGS

As a BCMEA representative attend various 3rd party functions, such as, but not limited to, transportation club meetings, educational seminars etc.

EXPERIENCE

Experience in interacting effectively with people at all levels of the organization. Experience working in a computerized environment with an aptitude to learn. Minimum 3 years experience in a heavily unionized...

PROFESSIONAL

Results oriented with an ability to work well under pressure and without supervision. Professional and pleasant telephone manner.

COMMUNICATION

Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.

MICROSOFT 365 KNOWLEDGE

Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel programs.
