Job Description:

- PLEASE READ EMPLOYEMENT STIPULATIONS FOR POSITION PRIOR TO APPLYING_
- For students to be eligible for CSEP positions, they must be registered in a full-time program, be a domestic fee-paying student, and must be able to demonstrate a financial need by _successfully applying_ for OSAP or out-of-province financial aid funding._

Reporting to the Manager, Student Counselling and Wellness Supports, the incumbent connects and interacts with students/peers, engages in active listening, and judgement-free conversation. The incumbent works collaboratively toward breaking stigma and making students aware of the health and wellness related resources on campus and in the community.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Using a variety of delivery strategies, provide accurate and current information to students about the six pillars of health (general health, sleep hygiene, nutrition and fitness, sexual health, mental health, and harm reduction in substance use);- Assist in the design and development of health promotion materials;- Attend and actively participate in training sessions where applicable; continue to develop knowledge in health topics and health promotion strategies;- Participate in campus-wide and residence outreach and health and wellness related events;- Create and maintain an inclusive environment;- Other duties as assigned by the Manager, Student Counselling and Wellness Supports.

Required Qualifications:
- Current Algonquin College student
- will be registered for the Fall 2024 semester;- Ontario Secondary School Diploma;- Ability to approach and engage others, initiating conversation and speaking about relevant health and mental health related topics;- Knowledgeable about health-related topics and resources;- Comfortable working independently and as a member of a team;- Experience presenting information to groups of people;- Excellent written and verbal communication skills;- Creative thinking and the confidence to use it.

- This position is funded through the College Student Employment Program (CSEP). Applicants must be eligible for CSEP;- You must be currently enrolled in a full-time program. The following students are not eligible: Second Career, Apprenticeship Programs, International students, Algonquin College employees paying a reduced tuition, Collaborative programs with the University of Ottawa or Carleton University and all programs that are not Ministry-approved;-
