Our facility in Mississauga, Ontario has key positions in Sales, Marketing, Research & Development, Engineering, Manufacturing, Customer Support and other disciplines. Operating since 1984, this site specializes in the design, development, manufacturing and marketing of a broad portfolio of innovative LED and Lamp technology. The Toronto facility serves a variety of markets such as electronics, optoelectronics, digital printing, general assembly, coatings, and medical device manufacturing, as well as endoscopy, bioscience research, microscopy and instrumentation.
We are presently seeking a hands on Production Team Lead who will perform assembly work on the production line, as well as oversee and coordinate the activities of their assigned cell/team in order to meet production goals, ensuring established procedures are followed and keeping Safety and Quality as top priorities.
Main Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and provide technical, quality, and production leadership to assigned cells/teams to meet quality, schedule, and cost goals.
- Support and suggest process improvement initiatives to reduce cycle time, improve inventory turns, and reduce manufacturing losses.
- Direct the activities of a production team within the cell(s) and participate in cell/team activities to meet identified goals.
- Provide feedback to Production Manager regarding cell/team members’ performance, attendance, and other performance or work-related issues. Communicate and enforce workmanship expectations, administer missing time corrections, and other administrative tasks.
- Work closely with Planning to ensure schedule attainment, review production orders and implement production schedules.
- Analyze and diagnose machine and tooling problems and take corrective measures to minimize downtime and interruption of schedules.
- Assemble, test, and maintain up to date training and implement training for majority of the products that are released for Production for both self and technicians.
- Troubleshoot and/or repair units/components without guidance from Manufacturing Engineering unless it is required.
- Performs all activities of Assembly Technicians in assigned cell as required.
- Understand, follow, and enforce all relevant company policies and Occupational Health and Safety Act regulation.
- Assist Manufacturing Engineers and Quality as required.
- Other duties as assigned.
**Requirements**:
- 5+ years of electronics assembly experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Post-secondary diploma or certificate (from a recognized educational institution) in a related disciplin
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
- Ability to troubleshoot non-conforming assembled products to determine root cause.
- Good English verbal and written communication skills for report writing, documentation, etc.
- Ability to work in a fast paced environment and manage priorities.
