**REQUIRED EDUCATION & CERTIFICATION(S)**
- Graduate of an accredited Health Information Management Program
- A member in good standing with the Canadian Health Information Management Association (CHIMA)
**REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE(S)**
- Current Hospital experience in coding and abstracting Discharge Abstract Database (DAD) Inpatient visits and National Ambulatory Care Reporting System (NACRS) Emergency Room and Clinic visits.
- In-depth knowledge with interpreting the CIHI Canadian Coding Standards, NACRS abstracting manual and ICD-10-CA/CCI databases is required.
- Working knowledge of electronic health record systems (Cerner) and coding/abstracting programs (Med2020) is required.
- Strong understanding of professional standards with respect to privacy, confidentiality, security of patient health information (access, use, and disclosure).
- Familiarity with MOH funding and MIS reporting methodologies.
- Participating in the Continuing Professional Education (CPE) program as defined by the governing regulation, in order to maintain certification.
- Computer literacy and demonstrated ability with ADT systems, Microsoft Office, and report writing software.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Accurate data entry and keyboarding skills.
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills, with an ability to set priorities in a busy work environment.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to use good judgment, either working independently or in a group as a team member.

**Hours of Work**:Must be available to work Monday to Friday day shifts. Shifts and hours may change according to departmental requirements per the collective agreement.
