**ASSOCIATE SUPERINTENDENT OF LEARNING - St. Basil Catholic Education Centre**
**The Division**:
Our Mission : We are a Catholic Faith community, dedicated to providing each student entrusted to our care with an education rooted in the Good News of Jesus Christ. Guided by the Holy Spirit, in partnership with home, parish and society, our schools foster the growth of responsible citizens who will live, celebrate and proclaim their faith. We offer Catholic educational opportunities to approximately 5,400 students in the communities of Bow Island, Coaldale, Lethbridge, Picture Butte, Pincher Creek, Taber and surrounding areas. There are 16 schools employing more than 570 staff, with an operating budget of approximately $70 million. With the division office centrally located in the city of Lethbridge, Holy Spirit Catholic Schools provides a wide range of educational programs and services in urban and rural communities.
**The Opportunity**:
The position will enact our mission, values and strategic priorities. Reporting directly to the Superintendent, the Associate Superintendent will provide strategic and operational faith-based leadership across a range of possible portfolios that may include but are not limited to:
- Teaching and Learning
- Curriculum and Assessment
- School Operations
- Leadership Development
- Strategic Planning and Assurance.
**Key Responsibilities**:
Providing Faith Leadership (_promotes and supports the permeation of the Catholic faith through the three-fold roles of evangelization, catechesis and religious education_):
- Actively participates within the Catholic faith;
- Commits to the continuation and growth of Catholic Education ;
- Models leadership and service by being visible and contributing member of the parish community;
- Demonstrates by interest, lifestyle, and growth involvement within a Christ-centered working environment; and
- Supports divisional staff in the delivery of our Faith Mentorship Program.
Building Effective Relationships (_establishes a welcoming, caring, respectful and safe learning environment by building positive and productive relationships with members of the school community and the local community_):
- Takes appropriate actions to ensure open, transparent internal communications (and external when required) are developed and maintained in the areas of responsibility;
- Models ethical leadership practices, based on integrity and objectivity;
- Assists in meaningful participation of members of the school and local communities in decision-making;
- Ensures staff, students, and parents have a high level of satisfaction with the services provided and the responsiveness of the department; and
- Values **diverse perspectives** and fosters a sense of belonging and partnership
Modelling Commitment to Professional Learning (_engages in career-long learning and ongoing critical reflection, identifying and acting on research-informed opportunities for enhancing leadership, teaching and learning and completes professional learning on the code of professional conduct for teachers and teacher leaders_):
- Collaborates with teachers, administrators and system leaders to build professional capacity and expertise;
- Communicates a philosophy of education that is student-centered and based on sound principles and best practices of effective teaching, learning and leadership;
- Actively seeks out feedback and information from a variety of sources to enhance leadership practice; and
- Engages the members of the school authority to establish a shared understanding of current trends and priorities.
Visionary Leadership (_supports the school community in implementing a vision of a preferred future for student success, based on common values and beliefs_):
- Supports implementation of school and division Education Plans;
- Provides support to ensure that each student is provided with a welcoming, caring, respectful and safe learning environment that respects diversity and fosters a sense of belonging;
- Promotes innovation and continuous improvement by building structures and developing strategies to support staff in professional collaboration; and
- Provides support in matters related to staff professional development and collaboration.
Leading Learning (_facilitates and sustains a learning culture in the school community that promotes ongoing critical reflection on practice, shared responsibility for student success and continuous improvement_):
- Establishes a division-wide focus on student learning and achievement;
- Demonstrates knowledge of effective **pedagogy, curriculum, assessment**, and professional practice;
