**The Opportunity**
Mosaic is seeking a temporary **Seed Orchard Machine Operator** to work out of our Mount Newton Seed Orchard in Saanichton on Vancouver Island, BC for the upcoming summer season.

**The Role**
Reporting to the Manager, Tree Improvement, the Seed Orchard Machine Operator will carry out tractor operation, orchard maintenance, and support a variety of tree seed production activities. Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

- Tractor operation for the purposes of mowing, spraying herbicide, mulching, and preparation of land for planting;
- Operation of motor-manual equipment such as grass trimmers;
- Irrigation system maintenance;
- Mobile elevated work platform operation for tree maintenance and cone harvest; and
- Other orchard labour as required.

**Required Skills and Experience**
- Valid BC Class 5 Drivers License or equivalent;
- Ability to safely and effectively work in all weather conditions;
- Strong mechanical aptitude;
- Demonstrated commitment to workplace safety; and
- Self-motivated and comfortable working both independently and collaboratively within a small team environment.

**Compensation**
The hourly rate for this position ranges from $25 to $30. Individual compensation is commensurate with skill, relevant experience, and education.
