The primary role of the Residential Programs Supervisor is to support the residential programs team in dealing with day-to-day Shelter, Transitional Housing, Project Home, and Affordable Housing operations. This role provides leadership to the residential programs team including scheduling, staff orientation/training, case consultation, and case load management. This role also provides front-line support and duties, as required.
**A Day In the Life**
Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:
**Supervisory Responsibilities**:
- Support Residential Programs staff with case management, training, ongoing communication, debriefing, decision-making and questions, concerns.
- Contribute to a positive and supportive workplace environment at YWCA Banff
- Set and manage all Residential Program staff (RPC, Housing, PSA) schedules (time off requests, timesheets, and daily schedule) including after hours on-call schedule
- Work collaboratively with YWCA Banff teams to drive the overall success of the organization.
- Develop and maintain working relationships with community agencies and professionals in the Bow Valley that will enhance the support system for clients accessing YWCA Banff Residential programs
- Review and recommend to the Manager of Residential Programs improvements to agency policies and procedures to support and optimize client outcomes
- Review and update necessary forms, workflow, and staff training, as needed
- Support Residential Programs Manager with database, evaluation, and reporting
- Regularly review documentation/data entry to ensure accuracy and consistency of data collection
- Adhere to department guidelines, policies, and procedures as well as strict privacy and confidentiality agreements
- Support Residential Programs Manager with performance and on-going development of residential program team
- Support Residential Programs Manager with training and program development
- Participate in YWCA Banff Programs and Services team working groups, as assigned
- Attend Manager’s meetings, as requested
- Other duties as identified by the Residential Programs Manager
- Act as Manager of Residential Programs, as requested
**Front-line Responsibilities**:
- Provide emotional support, referrals, and systems navigation for Bow Valley residents who have experienced domestic/sexual violence and/or precarious housing/homelessness or accessing Affordable Housing
- Support client crisis and answer the crisis line, as required
- Stay knowledgeable and informed of all relevant resources within or outside the Bow Valley
- Complete necessary documentation and data collection for Residential Programs
- Participate in on-call, when required
- Provides services based on an understanding of the gendered nature of domestic and sexual violence
- Delivers services within a feminist and/or anti-oppressive framework and a survivor-centered, trauma-informed approach
- Demonstrates empathy, compassion, and non-judgment with clients, colleagues and community stakeholders
- Demonstrates self-reflection and an openness to learning, development and growth
- Treats everyone with respect and with a focus on choice and empowerment
- Actively seeks out and engages in professional development to maintain best practice and optimize client outcomes
**Qualifications, skills, knowledge and abilities**
- Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, or related field.
- Registration with a governing body preferred.
- Prior experience working in the areas of sexual assault, domestic violence, homelessness, and/or affordable housing.
- Strong supervisory, mentorship, and coaching skills; experience in staff supervision and scheduling is an asset.
**Knowledge & Expertise**:
- Domestic violence dynamics, women’s issues, and Bow Valley’s unique challenges.
- Crisis intervention, including intimate partner, child, and elder abuse.
- Gender-based violence, homelessness, suicide prevention, addictions, and mental health
- Relevant legislation (Landlord and Tenants Act, Protection for Persons in Care Act, Children First Legislation).
- Local social services and community resources
**Skills**:
- Exceptional organizational, time management, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to plan, implement, and evaluate programs.
- Flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.
**Position Details**:
- 36 hrs. per week over 4 days. Full time on-site position
- Expectation of some evening and weekend work, including working on-call shifts
