The Department of Business, Mining, Trade and Job Creation is looking for an innovative and highly motivated individual to fill the position of Trades Qualifications Assessor within its Apprenticeship Manitoba Branch.

Conditions of Employment:

- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
- Must produce and maintain a satisfactory Criminal Record Check.
- Must be willing and able to travel to various sites across the province as needed.
- Must be able to perform duties in a typical office environment as part of the role.

Qualifications:
Essential:

- Bachelor's Degree, preferably in Education, or a trades background, whether as a certified tradesperson or as a technical vocational or industrial arts instructor, is a requirement. An equivalent combination of related education and work experience may be considered.
- Experience with the Apprenticeship Certification Information System (ACIS).
- Experience with assessment and evaluation methods, counselling, listening, referral and interviewing skills and be able to effectively work with diverse cultures is an asset.
- Experience with Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) theory or competency based assessment and training related to the secondary and post secondary education system in Manitoba.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with industry, employers, tradespeople, apprentices, the general public and those from differing socio-economic backgrounds.
- Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Strong analytical and decision making skills demonstrating sound judgement when addressing issues and concerns.
- Excellent oral communication skills including the ability to deliver effective presentations to various stakeholders.
- Excellent written communication skills.
- Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams and Browsers or equivalent software.

Desired:

- Knowledge and understanding of the Apprenticeship and Certification Act, General Regulations. Trade Regulations and By-laws.
- Experience with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software.
- Proficiency in the French language is an asset.
- Proficiency in a language other than French or English is an asset.

**Duties**:
Reporting to the Operations Officer and Education Liaison, Operations Unit, the Trades Qualification Assessor (TQA) delivers assessment services to trades qualifier applicants and other clients who hold trade credentials from another Canadian jurisdiction or from another country, ensuring alignment with, and carrying out specific functions under the Apprenticeship and Certification Act, General Regulation and over 50 Trade Regulations and By-laws, in order to validate a client’s ability to challenge the trade certification exam; as Provincial Certification or Red Seal Interprovincial Certificate.
