The client is an articulate and engaging 35 year old male client with cerebral palsy, who uses a manual wheelchair for mobility and is currently a successful post-secondary student.
This job entails implementing a clearly designed hands-on program which includes:
- physical exercises to promote strength, flexibility, coordination, and independence
- wheelchair skills Training and ongoing consultation will be provided. Location: The location of the position is a home located about 4 minutes (by car or bus) from the Armdale Rotary in Halifax Hours: Two 2 hour sessions/week in evenings or daytime on Fridays Saturdays, Sundays
- with possiblity for more hours in future Pay:$27-$30 Hour Qualifications:
- Excellent physical strength and health (young man weighs 133 pounds and requires assistance with all transfers, lifting, and his exercise program)
- College diploma or current undergraduate university degree or current university student
- comfortable with assisting in personal care
- creativity and problem-solving, patience
- ability to incorporate feedback
- punctuality Required:
- Canadian Permanent Resident or Citizen
- current resident of Halifax Regional Municipality
- previous work experience with physically disabled is an asset Only applicants with cover letter in addition to resume will be considered.Cover letter should include information about why one seeks this job, previous experience with physically disabled adults and availability for this weekend part-time job.
