Conditions of Employment:

- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
- Must be able and willing to travel on occasion throughout the Province of Manitoba including remote locations.
- Must possess and maintain a valid full stage Manitoba Class 5 Driver's Licence.
- Must be willing and able to work overtime as required including overnight stays.
- Must be physically capable of performing the duties of the position which may require moderate physical effort such as carrying equipment and forestry samples for long distances potentially over rough terrain and in adverse weather conditions.

Qualifications:
**Essential**:

- Post-secondary education in resource management, environmental science, geography and formal training in Geographic Information Systems (GIS). An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Extensive experience using ArcGIS Pro/Desktop software for data analysis and management.
- Experience using ArcGIS Online to create web maps and apps for use with Field Maps and with Survey 123.
- Experience creating traditional and digital map products.
- Experience in data processing and analyzing complex spatial datasets, related tables and raster datasets.
- Strong verbal communication skills.
- Strong written communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage several projects simultaneously.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work in a team environment and with diverse groups.
- Experience working with datums and projections.
- Supervisory experience including providing direction and training.

**Desired**:

- Experience working with Python, Arcade, or other scripting languages.
- Completion of GIS Professional (GISP) certification.

**Duties**:
The incumbent in this position will coordinate GIS activities and undertakes data analysis, conversion and works with Branch staff to ensure that the technical aspects of GIS can be used to meet Inventory and Analysis’s and the Branch’s information and business needs. The incumbent will also identify improvements in systems, databases and processes within the current environment and works with their supervisors towards viable solutions. Working with Branch staff, the incumbent will design and develop program area dashboards to provide near real time data to staff, supervisors,managers and the public.
