**Job description**

The Building Maintenance Student (municipal) will assist Asset Management with various tasks within the Municipality of Chatham-Kent.

**Essential responsibilities**
- Demonstrate Chatham-Kent’s core values and competencies
- Assist maintenance staff with day-to-day tasks
- Painting
- Weeding
- Assembly and set of furniture and office equipment
- Organization of tools and equipment

**Essential qualifications**
- Because of the responsibilities of this position, preference will be given to students with the following:

- General Maintenance experience, including painting, general clean up, etc.
- Lawn maintenance and landscaping.
- Working knowledge of small equipment
- Students should enjoy working outdoors
- Experience working with the public / customer service

**Work environment/hours of work**
- This position works both indoors and outdoors
- This position works weekday hours

**COVID-19 Vaccination**

The Municipality of Chatham-Kent no longer requires a COVID-19 vaccination as a condition of employment. Although it is not mandatory to be vaccinated, it is highly encouraged.

- Walking: frequent walking on rough surface; constant walking on level surface (up to 22.73 kgs or 50 lbs.) (carrying tools and equipment, moving furniture, using wheelbarrow in grass, working from step ladder)
- Sitting: frequent sitting in a vehicle seat (sitting in chair at breaks or to fill out paperwork, sitting in vehicle seat between jobsites)
- Reaching: frequent reaching above shoulder, below shoulder, forward, backward, handling (up to 6.8 kgs or 15 lbs.) (removing and replacing ceiling tiles, overhead plumbing work)
- Lifting: frequent lifting floor to waist, carrying, transferring (up to 22.73 kgs or 50 lbs.) (lifting tools and equipment, moving boxes and furniture; transferring tools and materials in and out of truck or trailer)
- Standing: constant standing inside and outside (students will be on their feet all day with the exception of breaks and driving)
- Hands: frequent fine finger dexterity (movement), gripping (manipulating tools, threading nuts and bolts)
- Climbing: frequent climbing ladders, stairs (students will frequently climb stairs and ladders)
- Foot action: frequent two foot action (one foot action driving)
