Through our writing and the use of rare archival images, we strive to make history accessible, engaging, and relevant; helping paint a captivating picture of the past for our diverse readership.

Over the last 10 years we have developed and refined our signature “history showcase calendar”, which we are often told is more like a book than a calendar with its many fascinating articles, wealth of engaging archival images, and illustrated timelines. Much of our material covers lesser known yet historically significant topics, and we feature photographs from public archives and private collections that would likely never be seen by the public were it not for our projects. We are a valuable bridge from archive to public eye.

We are looking to add an experienced, motivated, and organized Bookkeeper to our team who will be the hub that keeps our operations running smoothly. This role requires administrative organization skills and astute attention to detail, as well as an ability to help guide the company with simple financial expectations.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Full cycle accounting including AR, AP, expenses, revenue, accruals, inventory, payroll, etc.
- Bookkeeping functions such as posting expenses, bank reconciliations, accounts payable, accounts receivable
- Prepare, and review financial statements; collect, analyze, balance, maintain and investigate account information to help maximize the accuracy of the reported numbers
- Prepare financial statements, month and year end reporting
- Inventory tracking and monthly reconciliation for true costing
- Assist in preparing key monthly metrics like Inventory Sell Through, turns, etc.[RA1]
- Prepare and report GST, PST, WCB
- Prepare and complete payroll, source deductions
- Maintain historical financial record by filing and organizing documents
- Bank account, credit card, and fleet card reconciliations
- Prepare and file customized reporting as necessary
- Prepare monthly cash forecasts to carry forward expected cash position

Knowledge and Skills Required Include but are not limited to:

- Ability to resolve accounting/reconciliation issues, prioritize tasks, set goals, and meet deadlines.
- Proficiency in Quickbooks and other accounting software
- Must be patient, flexible and eager to take on responsibilities.
- Strong proficiency with Windows, Microsoft Office Suit - Excel, Word and Outlook
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Well organized with a strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
- Demonstrated ability to deal effectively with people, able to work independently as well as co-operatively on a team
- Excellent decision-making and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects/duties simultaneously
- Accuracy - pays close attention to detail and ensures work and information are complete and thorough

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- 1-2 years professional experience in bookkeeping and inventory accounting
- Relevant diploma or degree from a recognized post secondary institute
