Reporting to the Manager, Media Support Services, the Audio Visual Technician provides day-to-day technical and operational services, support and training to staff, faculty and students in the use of audio visual equipment and technology systems in all learning and special event spaces on Colwood and Langford campuses.

The Audio Visual Technician provides ongoing operational services including audio visual equipment and technology systems maintenance, repair, inventory and upgrade.

The Audio Visual Technician provides external clients with technical service, support, consultation and hands-on training using RRU facilities and front-line technical service and support of audio visual equipment for various high profile internal and external events.
- Job Requirements- Diploma in cross-disciplinary multi-media, AV systems, technologies, and processes.
- Minimum two years of experience preferably in an institutional setting and/or an equivalent combination of training and education.
- Expert knowledge of current and emerging multi-media tools, software, storage, and web conferencing production and presentation systems and their technical requirements.
- Technical service and support experience managing high profile special events (Convocation ceremonies, Guest speakers, outdoor events, etc.).
- The ability to provide effective instruction, guidance and training in the use of audio visual equipment to faculty, staff and students.
- Strong problem-solving skills to resolve technical, logístical, and human interaction issues that arise, especially in the delivery of presentation technologies which may occur in high profile, and therefore high stress situations.
- Must have a solid knowledge of Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite products (Audio Audition or equivalent), and other professional production and presentation software.
- Competency on both PC and Mac platforms is required.
- Interpersonal skills to develop positive, professional relations with all campus clients and stakeholders to support RRU’s objectives of excellence in customer service.
- A synergistic team approach and willingly shares personal experience, knowledge, skills and information with coworkers and colleagues.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- Capable of understanding differing needs and viewpoints, while maintaining excellent working relationships with co-workers, stakeholders, and clients.
- Organizational skills to work independently under tight deadlines and pressure while managing multiple tasks.
- Additional Information- This is a regular, full-time position working 37.5 hours per week. This position has been evaluated at ADM-C with a salary range of $55,202 (minimum) to $64,846 (midpoint) to $74,490 (maximum) per annum. Employment offers will normally be made between the minimum and midpoint of the range and are determined by knowledge, experience and internal equity.
