**We are currently seeking Assistant Night Bakers for our MLA camp located in Bathurst Inlet, Nunavut. Start date is mid-January 2025.**

In this role, MATRIX is seeking experienced assistant night bakers. You are team oriented, motivated, and have acute attention to detail, accuracy, and excellent time management skills. You will play a key role at one of our remote exploration camps by performing all baking and kitchen help tasks in a timely manner. This position reports to the Executive Chef.

**Responsibilities**:

- Assist buffet breakfast with “daily special” and eggs to order
- Assist baked goods and desserts from scratch (cookies, square pies etc.)
- Assist baking a variety of bread and buns from scratch
- Support Night Baker with input on Breakfast Specials, assisting with menu.
- Practice the _“first in first out_” rotation procedures to support food inventory control.
- Participate in a Food Safety Plan using advanced HACCP recording methods.
- Execute safe food storage and labeling of potential food allergy items.
- Participate in daily toolbox meetings.
- Support monthly worksite inspections as it relates to the kitchen facilities.
- Performs tasks according to safe work practices and safe job procedures.
- Notify Night Baker of unsafe practices and unsafe environment.
- Report all incidents and accidents immediately.
- Practice good housekeeping in the work area at all times.
- Support and assist with coaching and training to other kitchen staff attendants.
- Actively participate as a high performing, team member.

**Required Knowledge & Experience**
- Minimum of one (1) year working in a similar baking/catering high volume position.
- Organizational and problem-solving abilities.
- Solid verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Basic computer skills.
- Highly motivated, team-oriented individual.
- Ability to work a rotation schedule.
- Ability to lift and move a minimum of 50 lbs.
- Ability to work and maintain a high level of performance during a 10 - 12 hour shift.
- Comfortable working alone at night.

**Preferred Licensing & Certifications**:

- Culinary Diploma or Red Seal designation is desired.
- WHMIS
- Standard / Level 1 First Aid with CPR & AED (16hr course) is an asset.
- Safe Food Handling Certificate within the last 5yrs is required.
- Previous experience working in remote camp setting is required.
